I have a 2.5-3" DPG OME lift and am happy with it. It makes my stock 01 XJ feel more like my old 3/4 ton truck I used the OME 934 springs and no extra rubber spacers. I would skip the leaf spring bushings DPG sells and get some Clevite bushings from MOOG (or O'Reilly's Master Pro, if they are also Clevite). For the extra on the rear leafs, it is easier to make a decision to do the bumper or not do it before you buy. If you are going to load the rear down it probably makes sense to get them. You might also consider skipping the JKS track bar and getting a double shear. JKS requires drilling the factory track bar mount slightly. Double shear track bars require replacing the mount altogether.

I was actually debating going with a double shear track bar instead, but again, that's just something else I'm undecided on.

Still undecided about the rear as well. I know I want a full size spare, so that needs to go somewhere. Not really feeling a roof rack, so that leaves the rear cargo (which the tire would take up all the space) or a swing out carrier. I guess if I go with the 4.5" leafs, and remove one. I can always add a small lift shackle to compensate if it's higher in the front. Or even add relocation brackets if the shackle angle is off and get the same result.

What's there to debate get a double shear TB. When I ordered my kit from DPG I already had the KOR TB so Dirk deducted the price of the JKS TB that came with the kit.

This is how mine sits with 4.5" springs with 1 leaf removed and spare in the back. The only reason I got the 4.5" springs is because the 3.5" were on back order. I'd also recommend shackle relocation brackets.

Damn, that thing sits like dead level. I think I'll go with the 4.5" leafs, and remove one, then have the extra leaf if I need to add it back in down the road. It makes more since to do it that way.

Looks good, Rich. Little low in the front, but better than the other way around. Which rear leafs are those?

Are you guys enjoying the ride on road?

Thanks TFitz!

It's an illusion of not being level because my driveway slopes towards the front. Putting a level on the roof rack shows 1/4" off, measuring ground to fender flare is 34.75" in the front and back.

Leafs are CS033RB with one leaf removed.

The ride is awesome, really smooth on streets and highway but haven't been off-road yet. I'd buy this kit from Dirk again.

No $hit!?!? So aren't those the 4.5" springs, and you get 3.5" once you remove a leaf? Because that's what I understand from Dirk. Maybe my information is confused a little.

Did you use the same hardware to put the leafs back together since everything was brand new? I was curious to if I would need to purchase new clips, and a new center bolt. I want to add shims as well, so actually getting the bigger springs and removing a leaf will force me to add the shims.

I have the 2.5 ultimate XJ old man emu hybrid kit. I may be confused too but I thought they were 3.5 springs and you remove one leaf to get 2.5. I didn't want to be any taller because I didn't want to have to replace anything but springs and trackbar and sway bar disconnects and shocks

The only thing extra I bought were sway bar bushings (cheap and easy noise fix), and upper rear shock bolts in case they broke but they did not. Bought this stuff from bolt depot and autozone.

Why do you plan to add shims? Why not don't remove the leaf if you want more height? I'm just asking, I don't have any knowledge to share!

I plan on running a SYE and I'll need to bump the pinion angle up towards the tcase output shaft in order to do it correctly. I don't have the experience, but I've done SO much research that I feel like I know what I'm talking about.

I'm looking to get 3.5" and Dirk said I could go with 3.5" leafs but would have a stiffer ride out back, or 4.5" leafs and remove the middle leaf to get 3.5" and a softer ride. Plus I can add the leaf back in if I add a bumper, tire carrier, roof rack, etc. Or even just do relocation brackets to compensate for that as well, then save the extra leaf if I just want to go higher later on. It's my DD, so 3.5" to start and will stay there for a long while!

The purchasing is going to begin soon! The money is there, but I have some other crap to figure out before I can focus strictly on the Jeep. Not to mention, with being in Michigan, the kit probably won't go on until it starts warming up. However, I would like to get everything prepared in the meantime.

Default Update

Hi Guys,

If anyone is following this anymore, I ordered my kit through Dirk at DPG on Monday. I've already received the quick disco's and track bar, but JKS is located in Michigan, so that was expected. Should receive the other stuff in the next week or two. Unfortunately, I won't be able to get it on until it warms up a bit, but that's all good cause I can get prepared. Also, the threads on the bolt that JKS provided with the track bar are chewed up, so I need to get that replaced.

I'll keep you posted, if anyone cares anymore.

May start a build thread down the road, but currently, I want to keep it simple. If that changes (which it most likely will), I'll start a build thread to show my progress.
