I have the same thing. Mine has the hack n' tap, RE makes one and so does IRO IIRC. It works great, no vibes. If i'm not mistaken even the Tom Woods is a hack n' tap he just does it a lot more professionally then doing it yourself...not 100% on that though.

Hack n Tap is the only option for the 242.

This. I remember somebody saying you can buy from Tom Woods.

Can somebody help me understand this page though? It says $470 for a 242 main shaft/tail cone housing and a drive shaft... with a $400 core charge. So, that means I would be charged $870 and then credited back the $400 core charge when I shipped them my main shaft/tail cone?

Default Tom Woods HD 242 SYE

I got the HD version of the 242 SYE made by Tom Woods. They actually make a new shaft for it. They didn't want my old one back because they (at the time) had excess 242 spares or whatever. I wanted to make sure mine was as strong as possible and when you look at getting a custom drive shaft built to go with a HnT it's really not that bad of a price. I am extremely happy with my service and the products from Tom Woods.
