Not your normal locker help needed
I'm in need of some help REMOVING a lock right locker out of a Dana 35 from a 93 XJ.
Here is what I have done
1. Remove center pin
2. Remove the springs from the locker.
3. Adjust the ratcheting teeth so the little slit for the c-clip to be removed
4. Push the shaft in
a. Tap the shaft in with a hammer
b. Hit the shaft with the hammer
c. Hit the shaft with a 2lb sludge
d. Hit the shaft with a 5lb sludge
e. Wail on the shaft with a 5lb sludge
5. Use a slide hammer on the shaft
6. Come to you guys for help
This has been over the course of a week. When I started the shaft could move about 1/8 inch back and forth, after all I did it still only moves about 1/8 inch back and forth.

You have to pull the cross shaft before you can remove the axle shafts. Once that is out you have enough room to move the axle in and out to get to the C clip. When I did this on my TJ it also helped to get a couple small screw drivers in the teeth of the locker to help spread it, and use a magnet to pull the C clip. The bolt that holds the cross shaft in is an 8mm 12 point.

Here are some pics of what I've got. In the close up there is a little spacer/washer thing with a hole on the right side, I can't get that piece to slide evenly towards the middle it always goes in cockeyed.

Holly molly, what happened to that rear? How did the passenger side bearing come off without removing the axle and case first? the reason why you are having so many problems is that the case is not being supported by anything other than the axle shafts. It will be very hard to get the alinment right to remove the C clips with the axle bearing the weight of the case. It looks like there is already some damage in there from the pinion crashing into the case, so get a couple of 2X4's and put them into the housing under the case and pull down on them to lift the case and try removing the shafts that way. you could even get a pry bar for a breaker bar an try that too. You may need to have a friend help you with this. The C clips should almost fall out when they are aligned right.

that first picture shows some damage where the bearing belongs....you really need to replace that whole assembly, I would not trust that to be any good with damage like that.

This jeep is for parts and that's the way the axle came. I'm guessing the PO was trying to remove it also, it looks like the bearing was cut off. I'll try and jam it back into place and see if that helps at all, wish I had those clamps.

If the c-cplis are off and you're just trying to salvage the locker you could try getting a big slide-hammer and attaching to a wheel lug to get the axles out. Autozone loans them for free. Get the biggest one they have.

the thing is those aren't c-clips in the picture, they are some kind of spacer or something I can spin them completely around no break in them just that little hole.
