Default Noob question about E lockers

I searched, and couldn't find the answer, so I've got to ask. Can you install an Eaton e-locker into a Dana 35 that already has a limited slip differential?

The ELocker is a Full Case locker and replaces your existing carrier. It doesn't matter if you have an open diff or a limited slip.

There are no E-Lockers for the 8.25. He would have to go to a up to 44/8.8/higher to get one if he wanted to go stronger.

Just a question. When you install a full case locker like the Eaton do you have to have the differential gears re-setup?? I've installed a couple of auto lunch box lockers that don't require gear setup because you don't remove the gears. With a full case locker you transfer the ring gear but do you have to have a full gear setup? Thanks.

Anytime you pull out the gears they have to be set back up.

I don't think that's true. You can pull out the carrier to put a lunch box locker in and put it back in without resetting the gears because the pinion gear is not touched nor the ring gear on the carrier. Am I wrong?? I did both of mine this way with no issues as far as I can tell.

The backlash and preload must be reset as a bare minimum when replacing the open/lsd carrier with another carrier.

Considering the investment in time and money, doing a complete install with new bearings, shims and seals is a very wise investment.

I pushed this point on another thread of using a Master Install kit and was shot down as not needed also but I agree its a waste not to do so considering.

Fred. I pulled the carriers on mine, installed the lockers and put them back in. I have had no problems.
