I've done the ground and got better terminals but the hots running to the alternator looks like a pain too
Its not a problem with the mods that are needed just a few mins. and done. I did upgrade all my wiring to HD ones I bought here from 5-90 great kit he makes check it out. Once its done then you don't have to worry about any more but after reading here I may remove mine and have rewound to heavier amperage.

Just go for it and enjoy the extra power!

Hopefully I can find a rango in decent shape
The vehicles don't get treated too well at the upullit. ..and durangos around here tend to be in a bad state already

Find one at the JY and just have it rewound/rebuilt, better than paying $4-500 for an aftermarket one for sure.

Found the 160 out of a 5.9 03 rt durango hopefully that works

Got it tested at auto zone works like a charm...but they said it only pushes 136?
I'm confused...now I just hope it fits with the modification

That's correct 136 amp is stock they can be rewound to a 160 amp one if desired. You scored a good one.

Does it have a metal or plastic cover on the back? The 160amp has a black plastic cover and the stator is exposed. The 136amp looks the same as your factory one but a larger case

And now I'm realizing I've not fully upgraded my wiring stuff did all the positive and negatives on the battery but nothing on the alternator. How do I go about that? Fused upgrade to the pDC and what else?
How much is that kwip kit?

I'd try another one the 160 is a general rating but that's low I had a few of them on the shelf when mine went out one of which puts out 170amps. If your looking for real power and cheap I did this for under $300 with the intake, but my alternator was free. One runs the jeep one runs accessories. Can also jump start it's self.

Okay
Another update the alternator I got IS the 160amp out of an RT durango 03 with same plug as my 99xj. Case is the same as the 136 so it'll require the same kinda bracket and block trimming.

Can someone tell me in great detail WHICH WIRES coming off the alternator need to be upgraded.
In my hand I have pictured the wire running from the back of the alt at the terminal up to my pdc which as I understand needs to be on a fuse..people call it the fusible link
But I only have one post at the pdc...
Do I upgrade any of the wires in the plug and if so how TF do I do that??
If you can find it in your hearts to reply with pictures that'd be nice.

I have ONE alt wire upgraded running to the PDC in case you missed that lol

PS I have no freakin clue with that red wire with the fuse is for
