I have a 94 xj with about 6"s of lift on 35s, i get major death wobble at about 45. Im still running stock control arms. How hard would it be to fab up some new ones? I cant really afford to spend $400 on control arms since i just started college but id like to get the heep back on the road

really fairly easy. but it's still going to cost you like $400 to make them yourself. DOM, shipping, bushings, heims/johnnies, brackets, it adds up pretty fast. theres a reason the aftermarket is so competitively priced. DW may not be caused by your control arms alone so don't expect some new long arms to solve that issue

CADs are half that price. I sit about 5.5" in the front on omix ada oem replacement arms and RR CADs. Adjusted toe in the driveway with a tape and never seen an alignment shop in over a year. Drives well.

what you don't give up in money, you give up in ground clearance. but yeah not a bad alternative in every case

I just noticed OP is running swampers. that might be a contributor of your death wiggle. are they bias? is the steering busted up? what's your caster angle?

If your at 6" of lift and on 35's then you should be able to afford the items to go with to make it safe to drive.

Go get your tires balanced and make sure your rims aren't bent before you go throwing money at this thing. Been there before ended up being a bent rim and ultimately traxus m/t's that wouldn't balance.

Along these same lines how far can you use control arms made for a specific lift?

That seems crazy high for stock control arms. I have the controls that came with a 4.5" lift and want to bump it up an inch or so. Control arms still ok to use?

Anybody know the safe max for stock control arms?
Or how little/max lift for aftermarket control arms?

Yes about 3" would be the max, I did run them at that height with the proper wheel BS'ing though. At 4 1/2"'s of lift I felt both U & L Adj. CA's were required for proper front differential placement on mine, I have zero issues with anything.
