And I DO realize that it's an Old Thread. I'm just piecing together the necessary components to mount my [NEW] JK Moab Take-Offs ( KILLER Craigslist Score !). Got JK Rubicon Shocks [another KILLER Craigslist Score], JK Brake Lines [Free], 1.25" Adapters, Coil Springs [TBD], Leaf Springs [TBD].

My XJ is a 2WD TWO Door, and I am So Excited to Fix It Up ! Want JUST enough Lift to fit those JK Moab Take Offs .... I'm thinking 3"
You should start a build thread. I'm looking forward to see you getting the JK wheels on the 2 door, I love the look and don't recall seeing it on a 2 door yet.

There are several great pics of a white 2 Door w/ 17" XJ Moabs on Google Images. I don't have image hosting accounts. The rims are painted black. I have several pics of the rig on my desktop.

Default I bought these 18 inch wheels with tires (about 60% tread) for $250.

I bought this XJ for $1000. Runs great! Put on this 3 inch rough country lift but my mechanic had to complete the rear (sucks and not as easy as YouTube makes you think). I get a little rub when turning harder and backing but nothing I can’t live with

Those are some nice looking Jeeps, with that mod.
Looks useful, too.

I had the 17 inch JK moab wheels with spidertrax adapters on my rig for a little while but I wasn't a fan. They look nice but the offset causes some serious rubbing and tight turns are nearly impossible. I 3nded up trading them for cragar d windows and never looked back.

I got a 2000 XJ with a 2” lift and just purchased 5 rubicon wheels and tires off 2017 Jeep Wrangler rubicon BF Goodrich mud terrain 255 75 17. I’m getting adaptors 5x4.50 to 5x5, I need to know the spacing I need. Should go with 1.5” spacing?

I have an 87 XJ with the same wheels and tires as you. I went with 1.25" adapters and have no rubbing issues. I'm also a bit taller than you at 4ish inches of lift, and as I understand it the older XJ had a bit more clearance around the wheel wells. I have heard some people requiring longer rear studs for the adapters, but I did not need any with mine. I have since switched to the JK wheels with the same size tires, and added the Rubicon wheels to my wife's JLU with 315 70 17s on it. One big happy Jeep family XD

Default 18" JK Wheels on 96 XJ

2" lift and 1.25" wheel adapters. Had a little rubbing turning so I had to trim inner fender cap a little.
