Default Jeep Comanche V8 swap info

Hello to all. New to the site but not to wrenching on custom one-off projects.

I bought a jeep comanche with a renix-6 that is out on two cylinders. I'm planning to install a 5.3L V8 in it but wanted to know if anyone is running this set-up already (MJ or XJ). Anyone using this engine with a TH400 or the 4L60E? If so, what are your opinions with your set-up. Planning on a Dana 300 out back to drive the 4wd. Also installing a Dana 80 rear and Dana 60 front. Lift size is still undetermined but at least 8".

Any info that may helpful would be much appreciated. I have some pictures of the start of the project and will update as I go along. As for now it's off to get the engine and then order a cam and gasket kit to get it ready for the tranny to go on.

Once again, Thank you in advance for all assistance and info, that is why I am here, for the years of jeep tech and knowledge that is available here!!

you might want to check out pirate4x4.com for a v8 swap, im sure someone over there has done one, i also know that JP Magazine put a 5.9 magnum in a wrangler, which should be pretty close, but not too many people on here go all out like that on this site

I like to keep my wheels on the ground. I like big tires and small lifts. For women I like small waists and big buts.

Taking more pictures of the new goodies over the next 24 hrs so I will be updating this build with my latest progress and where I am at with it.

I'm sure some thought this was dead but far from it. Wife had our second child and work has been nuts!

Expect to invest in unibody reinforcement if you wheel it. The added torque puts a lot more stress on the unibody.
