How about some more info, like year make and model. Also how slow is it starting? Renix Era avg. Is 3-4 seconds. Do a search for cruisers Renix tips, courtesy of the great Cruiser54. Its a great refreshing list for a xj/mj owner.

Its a 91 with a 97 motor and it just seems to take a while to fire up but it runs just fine. I have herd some of them take a while to start but i was just wandering if there is a way to fix it.

Could be leaking injectors, corroded grounds, or your fuel pump. Xj fuel pumps are notorious for having bad check valves, which means your fuel rail won't hold it's residual pressure to fire up the engine efficiently. Try turning the key to the run position a few time before cranking it over and see if that helps

When you say "start better" that leaves alot to the imagination. If you could describe the way it starts that might help.
Need to know if its a slow starting problem related to the speed at which the starter turns over the engine. Or is it a fuel/fire problem with a fast turn over speed but no quick fire up.
Mine is the later. Try checking with this. Try turning the key to the run position. You should hear the fuel pump spin up for 2 seconds and shut off. Then try to start the engine. If the engine fires up quickly then you probably have a bad fuel pump and the fuel is draining from the fuel line back into the tank when not running. If it doesn't fire quickly then you might have a weak spark. Try plugs and wires. Fastest firing car I ever had was my Datsun 510 with 8mm wires, good plugs and an Accell 70k coil on it. Literally reached in thru the window and tapped the key and it fired up! Make sure you have fuel available at start and a hot spark and you should be good to go.
Now a slow starting problem is all in the starter and the voltage you give it.
Check all that and I doubt your problem will persist.
