Default Hood Spacers

I know people on here have done this before (raise the back of the hood to let heat escape, kinda like a cowl hood), and have seen some Jeeps at shows with this done, just kinda looking for some info on it though, so I dont have to do trial and error.

How long and what size bolts do you get?
And
How many washers do you get?

I've seen someone do this and they had pics, been a while I hope I can remember who. You news like 10-15 washers per side and as for the length of volt just play it by ear as long as the bolt has the same thread count and size you can go wrong. Spray existing bolt with pb blaster to loosing it and have someone there to help you so you don't bend the bracket

This is a great way to get decapitated.

Just put some hood vents in instead of making your jeep look like it was in an accident and you ran out of money to fix it.

I've read numerous threads on this and no one has ever heard of this happening. I think I'm gonna send this one to Mythbusters.

I did this to my XJ. I used 8 washers on each side, but I cant remember how much longer of a bolt. It doesn't look that drastic, but it you look from the inside there is probably a 1" gap for heat to escape. Not too worried about decapitation, whatever I hit would have to plow through the winch and big *** bumper first. It runs a little cooler on the trail, going off the temp gauge, and It has been through 2 winters in Colorado parked outside with no issues from rain or snow. I was thinking that I would have to take them off during the winter because the heat from the engine might fog up the outside of the windshield, but it doesn't. It makes the ice that sticks to the wipers clear up faster too.
