Heavy Duty Dana 30 Front Axle shaft Assembly
I have been thinking about doing this upgrade: http://www.ironrockoffroad.com/Merch..._Code=IR-XDAXL
Seems to be pretty nice, and for a reasonable price. I need to replace u-joints and saw that these came fully assembled and never hurts to increase strength in the front end. I am driving a 1988 XJ 5-speed, 4 door, with a 3.5 inch lift.
Has anybody else installed this kit? Any issues with this kit? I have the Central Axle Disconnect assembly, right terminology?, and was wondering if the delete kit removes access to 4wd? I have never done work on axles before, so this is definitely a new venture for me!
Thanks in advance!

You'd come out much cheaper just buying a set of stock 95 and newer shafts. They can usually be found for around $100 or $150 for a complete axle assembly and u joints are pretty cheap.

Yeah those are factory (I thought they were 97+ but maybe 95+??) shafts. If you want to go that route just buy some off Craig's or snag some from your local pick n pull. Probably be around $100.
Or if your really worried (or should I say want a real upgrade) get ahold of rwk haus supply, you can get a set of chromo's with spicer joints and full circle clips for about $400

$400 is way too much money.
A pair of axles from Pick-n-pull = $70
X-Joints = $80
Get your buddy to weld the caps = 2 beers (1 if he's a fast welder)
Change the seals while you have it apart. Ya know, just for fun.

Weld the caps? Hold you dont mean the Ujoint caps? You do know that the amount of grease in a Ujoint cap (The quality Spicers ones that is), is less than the size of a drop of water. You really think the heat that is needed to Melt high alloy steel (Ujoint cap) and low grade 1040 axle together, wont Cook any of that grease if not all of it?
Please people, dont weld the caps. Get a quality axle kit and then you dont have to worry about it. Or just run them as they are, so they stay lubed as Dana/Spicer intended them to be.

Welding the caps is extremely common practice so I'm not sure why you guys haven't heard of it. But yeah, don't weld the s**t out of them. Welding or full circle will do the same. Both are unnecessary. I chose welding over full-circle because I was too lazy to do the grinding.

both are unneccessary? you trippin. full circle snap rings are the best upgrade you can do to prevent ujoint failure for cheap
it's funny when the guys who weld their caps fry a ujoint and go like "huh that's weird I just bought that 2 months ago, I must be wheeling pretty hard!" or "man these ujoints suck!"
