Default Hard clunk when put into drive

Noticed my xj makes a real loud clunk when I go from park to drive or from reverse to drive? Does anyone else's jeep do this?

sounds like you have a bad drive shaft u-joint.

you may also want to check your transmission mount. they tend to fail, especially if you have a leaker.

U joints are the culprit. Also make sure you're pressing in the brake hard enough.

Default Mine is getting louder

Need to isolate where the clunk is coming from. I thought I had a U-joint getting ready to go which would be common. But yesterday I noticed the clunk was louder when the rear diff was hot and the lube was thinner. Mine has 185k of pretty rough service on it and it looks like I am going to have to pull the cover and check the gear heel/toe mesh on this corporate axle.
