front locker
So, here is the deal, i have a 98 xj with 33's 3.55's and a Detroit locker in the back (its a c 8.25). i find this set up very lacking in the power and traction departments. what i am thinking is i want 4.88's (i want to be better than stock and my jeep has literally 1000 pound of armor) and a front locker to complement my rear locker. so my question goes out to all that have front lockers, how are the lunchbox style lockers in 2wd on the street, same for a full case locker like my detroit, and a limited slip. tell me everything you have experienced with a front locker or limited slip of any kind on a front axle in a xj
if i am going to be paying close to $1800 i want to do it correct the first time.
thanks for any replies.

I have an ARB up front in my XJ...
And a Detroit truetrac in the front of my YJ
I am very pleased with both...I like the Posi front in the YJ in some situations but I love the ARB in the XJ much more...
No clutch plates, cones etc to wear out in either....

my front axle is a high pinion dana 30, does that matter?
a real locker with street manners that are the same as open diff, if i have to save $ for a while longer im fine with that. sounds like the perfect locker for me that makes no compromises in drive ability or off road performance. all at the touch of a button! thanks for your help.

I run Detroit's front and rear in my XJ with 4.56 gears when not in 4wd you never know the front one is there, and both are quiet compared to most of the others.
I have ran mine on and off road on snow/ice without any more problems than I have with any other of my cars/trucks/SUV's. Some say they have trouble driving with them but I don't have any issues.

My Blazer had Detriot's fr/rear and worked great, the only problem was going down something really steep it didn't want to turn.
My XJ has a Detriot rear and an e-locker in the front, works perfect, going down grades and turning is no problem just flick the locking switch to the off position.
