I think dot is too strict and Ece is more lenient. The Ece Appear to have day time running light which would have to be separately wired.

I have these on my XJ. I don't know why they're cheaper, because they actually have extra LED's on them. You'll notice two extra wires on the back of the lights. Those are power and ground for two extra, forward-facing LED's on the front of the headlights. I haven't hooked mine up yet, but here's what they look like:

Like the H4 "E-code" headlights that so many swear by, the only difference in the beam is the __/__/__ cutoff pattern, instead of the straight line of the DOT version.

I've been using these in my lifted Jeep for months now and no one has flashed me. They do not blind anyone. Also, ECE headlights are perfectly legal here, in Washington.

I bought them on Amazon, months ago. Just search for "Truck-Lite 5x7" and find the cheapest pair. I paid $350 shipped.

Go to my first or second post. I have links to the dot and ECE. ECEs are like 170 a piece(340). I had to pay taxes and came out to 370ish.

Thanks for that! Was about to ask if anyone knew what these two wires are haha. I wonder if they're DRLs?

Pretty sure my alternator just went out. So that'll have to be dealt with before I can get you guys some before/after pics. But for now here's some of the unboxing haha.

Other than the extra LED's, they're pretty much indistinguishable from the DOT version.

I think I'm going to wire the extra lights to come on with the parking lights. Hopefully, they don't **** anyone off.

The extra lights are likely what is known as city lights. It's not something you usually see in the US, but something Europeans sometimes have. Kinda like DRL's. Even though they look identical otherwise, I'm sure patterns and light distribution differ from DOT to ECE.

Just sent them an email about recommended usage for those lights... We'll see if you're right haha. Also asked about wiring them as DRLs.

Turns out they are front position lights, our equivalent of parking lights apparently. He also recommended I return the lights and get the DOT approved ones cause ECE isn't legal here... Hahaha...

Yeah... I'm waiting on a response from trucklite to see what they say. And driving is amazing now, such an immense amount of light.
