You have to think of what you're going to spend to have it set up. It's cost effective just to do it all at once. So the few hundred dollars of an elocker vs TruTrac is not a big deal in that regard. Best to save and do it right once, instead of paying extra to do it twice later (regear, etc)
Do they make a TruTrac for the D30? I was afraid of going that route.. having a LS up front in the snow sounds like a bad idea. That's why I went with an e-locker, so I could keep it open in the snow.
A TruTrac isn't a locker. If you drive in snow a lot the TruTrac does pretty good, but it still is a limited slip deferential and doesn't handle rocks worth a dam. My favorite form of wheeling is snow wheeling, and the best way to go for snow is a selectable locker, open when you need deferential between the front tires and locked when you want the traction.

I used a NP242 with Posi-Trac's (LSD) front and rear. Never had any issues with the Full-Time. An LSD/Posi does offer some slippage still but wayy less than an open diff so you still have a small margin for error.

And from what I understand, just tapping the brakes will lock up the lsd.
