cut and fold what to do with the rear corner bumpers ??
So i did the cut and fold method in the front and in the back. Im wondering what do you guys do with the rear corner bumper covers? I would like to put them back on but Im not sure how i should cut them.
Do you guys have any pics or advice on how to cut them so it looks good ? I would leave them off but on one side there is a rust hole -__- so I kinda want to put them back on.

Most all just leave them off even with some rust showing, I did till I bought aftermarket bumpers. Depending on tire size they will rub if the ends are installed after a trim & roll.

JCR Offroad makes a cut and fold rear bumper that replaces the end caps. If I'm picturing your question correctly in my mind, I think that would take care of your problem. If you don't want to pay $600 for a new steel bumper, you can at least take a look at how they designed theirs and maybe come up with a DIY solution to replace your endcaps.

yea just to explain it a little better the rear lower quarter panel has a pretty big *** hole. Its that part where people cut and fold as well which I guess I should do it sooner or later.

Soo thats what the problems is I dont want to leave it like that lol. When I put the corner covers on I have to trim them so they line up, but I was thinking and if I trim them there might be a gap between the bumper corner covers and the quarter panel. Especially if looking from the wheel well side where it meets the trim fender line.

I would and thats why I was thinking bout cutting and folding it and just do that on both sides. Then later get a rear bumper. Figure if Ima have to cut this out I might as well fold it in and just bondo it. What do you think ?

Well there's not much to cut OR fold haha. Looks like my Jeep. At the moment I don't have clearance issues so I hacked off everything about 3/4" below the end cap bracket and built a cap to bridge the gap. Then I just put the caps back on.

Just a thought my Heep has that same rust as well there is a good bit right below the quarter window. That leads me to believe the seal on the window is defective allowing the water to get in is yours the same? If so any attempt at repair should also include some drain holes at the lowest point to allow the water out. I myself won't take the chance of shattering the glass to replace the seal on a 13 yo DD.

so how should I do this then? I put the end caps on but I dont like how it looks. They look to bulky now with no fender flares as it doesnt follow a line. So i took them off and im thinking about cutting the lower quarter panel. But on this side with the giant hole how do you think I should go about this?

Yup. Big hole. Mine is rusting in that spot as well.
Cut it off before it gets bigger. Make it match on the other side, and then sand, paint and protect with POR or something like it. Maybe get creative and take your door moldings (or whatever those stupid plastic pieces are on the outside of the doors) and then cut them to the length of where you cut, get some adhesive and stick em on.
Cheap, and you can make a nice edge line.
Or, cut it and then put some bed liner on it?

You could always take an angle grinder or sawzall into the junkyard, find a donor XJ with good steel there and cut off a good piece to weld in to fix that hole. Around my area there are guys who will come to you to do minor welding jobs for $150 or less. They actually advertise on Craigslist. You might get it for cheaper if you have an auto body training school around. If you're planning to fold it anyway, it won't matter if it doesn't look like a body shop did it, although an auto body trainee might make it look pretty good.

It may look like alot, but I sucked it up and did both mine in about an hour. It looks decent too. I know you have alot of rot, but doing this cut and fold may hide it a bit (after you cut out the garbage metal thats left)
