Cut Fender Clean Up?
Hello Everyone! I trimmed my fenders, not enough to cut apart the spot welds in the rear, but just enough to get rid of the bolt holes that fender flares attach to. I'm not running enormous tires, I just like the look of my Cherokee without the flares. In the picture, they are on the rear, but not the front. What I'm a little worried about is the Mag Cl they put on the roads here in CO and the exposed metal rusting. I bought some stiff plastic door edge guard molding and have put that on the rear, but the front ones won't stay on due to both engine heat and vibration. I love the way they look, but I'm looking for ideas on how to get them to stay on. Any ideas? Thank you!

If it were me I would first shoot a coat of paint over the bare exposed metal...
As far as the door trim...id see if you could find something that may fit a bit tighter...last time I looked walmart sold some door trim by the roll that seemed to be very tight fitting

I just got the whole Jeep painted, so I don't really want to go spraying away. I wouldn't mind doing the inside of the fenders, but I also like the way the door edge looks and cleans up the cut edge. I don't think it's how tight it fits, because the rears stay on just fine. I was thinking of running a line of some adhesive (or something similar that would seal the edge) inside the edge guard, then pressing them on. Just not sure what the best thing to use would be. :/

You don't rattle can it I use the Touch-Up paint on mine with the brush, easy to control for small area's.
The problem with the door trim is when 4 wheeling I had it on mine for a while and tore it off of one side when I ran over a small tree limb about 3" in dia. it popped up on the front and rear and tore both loose and broke them. I replaced it then winter came and the first time out on ice covered snow (about 2' of it) and a creek with ice on both sides of it where I crossed tore all the trim up with some missing completely from the Jeep when I got home.
After that I removed what was left of the trim on the XJ and went to paint, much easier to take care of IMHO.

I think when it warms up a little bit I'm going to take my seats out, clean the car top to bottom and POR15 the tub, the undercarriage, the wheel wells and just a small strip on the outside of the wheel openings for the color and protection. Rust prevention! I'll get around to posting pics when it's done.

You should definitely paint your exposed cut edge. You could try getting some small rubber hose and slicing it lengthwise then glueing it to the cut edge on the fender.

door edge should have adhesive inside, you just have to pull the plastic cellophane to expose the sticky tape.
but it will still come off due to heat, so a little bit of gorilla glue should keep it in place, but you may have to use a grinder to get it off later if you should need to.

Use super glue or something. The adhesive with the trim isn't worth a damn.
I would also shoot whoever wrote on your windows. That would drive me up a wall.
