Default Custom gauge cluster

I did a brief search and couldn't find anything. I want to run aftermarket gauges instead of swapping in a full gauge cluster as I have the full warning light package.

My question is has anyone tried unplugging there factory gauges and drove the vehicle? My 93 F250 auto will start and drive but not shift out of 1st if cluster is not plugged in.

Full gauge swap gonna make life much easier here. Plug and play with sensor swap.

Factory gauges came both ways mechanical and idiot lights the swap is easy and cheap just find one from the JY where everyone finds them or online. Is there a reason you want to unplug everything and drive it?

I think your confused as to what freegdr told you. You can see some of my factory gauges here I think what your after real info no lights. On the left side A-Pillar you can see a gauge pod mounted there but has switches in it, also an option for more aftermarket gauges.

I know what he was referring to and yes my dash is all idiot lights. I will more than likely get a factory gauge cluster out of a JY and put new senders on new engine build. Want to make sure everything is happy. But long down the road they will be changed to aftermarket custom gauges.

I have all custom gauges and wiring in my race car and the wife's car a Fox body Mustang with a 572" BBC in it I use "Painless Wiring" setups in them.

I can tell you a custom gauge panel made for your XJ to hold a round one like those will bite the bank quite a bit, but its only money and these are toys.

Why no ford in the fox body? lol I am quite savy with wiring and make all of my stuff from scratch and those gauges are from Speed hut, (people who started autometer years ago) a full set of basic (full electronic) is $520 with all the senders. ive used them in several build very nice product.

You dont know my wife lol She is the one who found the Cherokee for me to buy and immediately started listing off her demands.

Full internal cage, no exo
Strip interior bedline floor
minimum 4" lift
Suspension seats
Windshield LED light bar
And I showed her the custom gauge company for her 65 Bug and said lets make some for the jeep too.

She grew up in off road racing, co drove/navigate for a class 9 car.

Default Custom gauge faces

If you're going to gut the thing and shove autozone gauges, that's one thing. If you're looking for an appearance mod, I'd get ahold of Azzy... vendor/sponsor here as I understand.

I don't mind spending the money on something I want. the gauges will not be going in until after its caged and custom sheet metal dash anyway. I was just asking a technical question on if it would work. After having experienced this with my ford i didn't know if it was a trait of all early electronic automatic transmissions or just something dumb ford did.

Why no ford engine....I wanted to go fast and had the 572" crate motor already, has a powerglide trans also. My 381ci. SBC Dart block/heads makes quite a bit more HP than the 572" does. But the Mustang we drive to cruise ins and on weekends mostly or when she wants to go to the track on grudge night to make a few bucks.

I have used Auto Meter gauges for a very long time high quality or were anyway now I depend heavily on a laptop to see what went on during the run and not what I remembered from seeing the gauges for the most part.
