i have a 96 cherokee 4x2 and i want to put a t3/t4 turbo on it, i want to build it from scratch like a STS turbo kit, what do i need to do as far as tuning, timing/fuel to get it to run efficiently? i want to run 6psi daily and have a boost controller just in case ha ha, what are everyones' thoughts?

He said its a 2wd. Maybe for high speed dunes or drag strip? Or just a fun DD.
I've seen a turbo comanche on a drag strip once.
Was pretty interesting.

I've always loved the idea of a turbocharged 4.0l, would be a great sleeper. I would suggest talking to companies that make the kits and others that have done this to get a better idea of what all goes into a project of this type. Not too many but they are out there.

This thread is from a Vendor that built a turbocharged 4.0L, and sells parts for that. https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f10/bo...ifolds-114327/

T3/T4's are for engines that turn a lot of rpm. You should look into a turbo from a small diesel instead. The 4.0 isn't exactly a 2Jz. With that being said imo it would be easier to get a manifold and plumb your own system. At 6psi you won't need a ton of fuel so step up the injectors a little and get a good pump. Then you could run something like megasquirt and from there the options are endless. It's not gonna be a simple thing though so make sure you're skills are on point and your wallet is fat.

well thanks for the feed back, yea im going with a sleeper look, going lower it a bit for stability and put some sticky tires on it with a ratchet shifter and shift kit, and with the turbo plumb it right after the cataliac converter, weld a t3 flange to my exhaust and just run piping right into the intake not needing an intercooler due to the length of piping, and ill install an electric oil pump and tank for the turbo, i mean like being 2 wheel drive this thing hauls azz, it will break the tires loose when it down shifts and i think it would be better as a turbo, mess around with all the lil tuners here in the town i live in, i know its not a high revving engine but i have the turbo already, new at not cost, so like why not ha
