Cheap Bumpers
Hello, I want to get into a little trail riding and I'm not sure if i can afford a lift yet so I thought I could stay stock and just get a bumper with a winch. Is that a good idea? and where can I get a cheap bumper?

About the cheapest way to get a winch mounted on the front of your Jeep is either a Front receiver with a hitch winch mount and your winch of choice or a Detours BackBone with your winch of choice.
I have a backbone and Smittybilt XRC8 on my DD and really like it.

Just get a decent bumper and screw a expensive winch! Get a come-along! It will be good enough. Or get a Hi lift jack, they are come-alongs also

Ya know. I've never once thought "Man, I wish I'd never wasted money on this winch."
Recover should be step number one. It bugs me to no end to pull up behind some guy that's stuck in some aweful position and not have one single recovery point on the thing... People start wrapping winch cable around steering linkages-n-****.

By the time you buy a cheap/used winch bumper and a decent winch at least a 8,000 lb u could buy a pretty decent 3" lift & a Hi lift jack and a good tow strap (not a chain)

Cheap winch - http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SM...FUyb7QodURQAkw
Backbone - http://detoursusa.com/xjbackbone.php
$600.
RC 4.5" lift. - http://www.roughcountry.com/jeep_xj_4x.html
Set of tires - http://www.tirerack.com/tires/TireSe....5&diameter=15
$1,628.
I say you just order it all at the same time.

Hi Lift Jack - http://www.ironrockoffroad.com/Merch...ory_Code=TOOLS
3" lift - http://roughcountry.com/jeep_xj_3x.html OR http://www.ironrockoffroad.com/Merch...egory_Code=PFX
recovery strap - http://www.ironrockoffroad.com/Merch...tegory_Code=UP AND http://www.ironrockoffroad.com/Merch...tegory_Code=UP
then all you need to do is find a decent set of 235/75/15 or 31/10.50/15 tire's & mount them on your factory wheels and you would have a pretty good start on that jeep
$465.00 + your shipping and whatever the tire's cost
