Best Limited Slip Unit
I'm going to be rehearing and I'm going to add a posi unit to the rear of my 99 cherokee 8.25. So which are the better posi units? How about the Auburn Gear unit?
I don't need a locker so i'm sticking with a posi. Thanks

Might I ask why your not just going for a locker? It's going to be about the same cost and for the $ you might as well go for it.

Auburn is like the best posi company out there but I'd still go for a locker

Posi is the GM trade name for a LSD unit, they are a pita, a LSD replaces the carrier so you have to set up the gears again to install a LSD. If you just have to do a LSD at least do yourself a favor and install the Detroit TrueTrac as it is gear driven and doesn't use clutch disc that wear out and need to be replaced.
A lunch box locker is cheaper and doesn't require a gear set up to install. ( plus it actually works! )

The Auburn's are good. you might do better with a Crimson tide though Sorry, Couldn't help myself. There are a number of people with DD that prefer the LSD over a locker in the rear. I have considered it myself, just because of tire wear. I have a Spartan locker up front and I'm just going to have to install one in the rear when they come out to try it. If you have the Auburn installed, let us know how it works out. I'm curious how long the clutch packs wil last.

I'm going with a LSD because this rig will never be wheeled hard or mudded. This is our hunting rig that will often be driven on the road, not a DD but driven often and it will see time on the interstate so I just see no reason for a locker and extra tire wear. I'll be regearing at the same time so setting up the gears is no problem.
I'll look into the true trac! Thanks for the info. How long will the
