I converted my AC compressor to an air compressor and then mounted my tank to my interior cage in the rear of my XJ. I can take real pictures and get more details on it if you want.

How do you convert the ac compressor?

Being here in Texas, I need my a/c. I went with a compressor and tank setup. Ran a switch from the dash and hard wired everything. Works really well and airs up my little 31s from 10-30 psi in no time!

This is my set up. I've got a manifold with 6-8 ports, some valves to shut different lines off, F&R air chucks, a Wilkerson regulator for the ARB solenoids, a line that goes to the front console gauge so I can tell how much air I'm putting to the lockers. I've changed a few things since this pic, but you get the idea.

That glycerin filled gauge tells me the overall pressure in the tank, then the small black regulator is set to 90 psi for the lockers.

Is ViAir the way to go? If I'm clueless could I build one or is the kit a better idea? lol

It really isn't that hard to build. I can give you detailed pictures for everything if you go the AC route. Or put a belt driven compressor in place of your idler pully so you can keep AC too.

Your setup is the one I gratuitously copied!!! You have a great write up. One question, where did you get the manifold? That's the one thing I did not find while setting everything up.

Nice work by the way!

Great setups! I like the AC converted compressors as they don't make noise, but the in-cab compressor setups are pretty sweet (and inexpensive)!

Why thank you, thank you very much.

I got the manifold from Poly Performance. That's where I got a lot of parts and pieces actually. They have the 200psi valves too and those are really small, which is nice.

Here ya go:

Much appreciated. The manifold looks much cleaner and more convenient than this stupid flex hose.
