IMO Duratracs are over rated and not worth the premium price.
All this talk...LOL

I love my Cooper STT's. Great tire, tough sidewall, excellent price, not TOO loud, but I'm one of those guys that LIKES to hear my jeep. Vank hit the nail on the head, there is a difference, but it's not huge. (STT's VS Duratracs)

I WILL be buying Coopers again. I've run the Coopers, goodyears, bridgestones, bf goodrich's, and some in betweeners...all in various states, and in ALL weather conditions. My money's on the Coopers.

STTs are an excellent tire But...when you have to drive in winter 6 months of the year they leave a bit to be desired. The tread is too "blocky" for most winter driving. In deep snow....frickin' awesome!! Anything else is dicey at best.

I don't care by any means how loud they are, I just commented since people were discussing them. I rather be driving my loud exhaust mud tire howlin down the road jeep then a quiet jeep by all means.

Its funny this thread started. I wanted to start a tire thread as a sticky with several real facts of a bunch of tires. Delete out all the individual "go with duratrac" posts and only keep "during out ice storm i couldn't drive straight because of X tire." And theres alot of tires that theres mainly reviews by 3/4 and 1 ton trucks. Toyos, hankook, etc

Well, I'll agree to disagree...LOL...I have driven the Coopers in winter, in both deep snow and hardpack, ice, you name it...never had an issue with them, love 'em.

Its possible that may have been my review as I have been running them for almost 3 years now. I first saw them on a new Hummer that the owner of a nation wide tire distributor's (Friend Tire) owner's had on his they handle every brand. After talking with him for about 30 min. I went to my tire dealer and bought 5 of them.

I have had excellent luck with mine in all terrain except huge boulders we have none but about everything else. They ride OK on the Highway with about 28-30# of air and have ran a lot higher but to rough a ride. When off road I'm comfortable with 15psi running just a plain steel wheel.

All in all have been well pleased with them for just over $750 for 5 tires mounted balanced, new valve stems including tax's.

I've been real happy with the Goodyear Adventure w/Kevlar AT tire. I daily drive mine, with an occasional off-road trip here lately. However, now that I have a bike to ride during the summer, I will probably switch to the Cooper STT Pro tires for a little more grip off-road.
