I'll make sure that post up anything that I come up with for a custom box. I don't get to do it too often so my finished products aren't quite as pretty as yours but they work and sound good

So the box is made of abs. its wrapped around the tablet on three sides and the tablet slides in from the top. the tablet is presure fitted into the box. The box is attached to the front facia panel. I needed it to be attached very well. I didnt use fiberglass or bondo because it would only crack from bumpy roads and from heat/cold itsself.
I attached the box to the facia temporarily with super glue. after that i sealed all open cavities with hot glue to create something sealed. The strength and rigidity comes from using a 2 part plastic epoxy. It bonds extremely well to abs and allows for tons of flex. Its also rated at 3500 psi so it is incredibly strong. the hot glue and super glue were only used for set up and prep for the epoxy bond.

Sorry, I actually went off topic and was talking about the sub enclosure you have in the rear hatch/cargo area. I figured you just used the mounting tabs for that center dash piece once you had everything molded into it to hold the whole piece in place.

back on the subject of your tablet mount, how much of a data plan would you need to use it strictly in the car for music and navigation? i have been wanting to do this but the thought of another monthly bill holds me back.

I considered this for a while. I originally wanted a galaxy tab 2 with built in internet. Pricing out the monthly bill with tmobile it came out to be just under $50 a month. Although it is ideal, It's just way too much. I run tethering with my phone. No hassles since it auto connects. I have an unlimited internet plan but it does throttle after 5 gb. I have yet to exceed my 5gb the past couple months, and I use it all the time. Go for it btw! If you have any troubles or concerns before you start just let me know.

Nice work for sure. I've got plans to do a nearly identical sub enclosure for my XJ. Not sure if I'm going to use the passenger side or driver side yet though; I removed my spare and don't plan on putting it back so I've got options on location.
lol.. was going to say the same thing. I'm also a CT sucker.. I mean, installer.

thought about putting my nexus in my 96 xj, but just went double din instead.. hindsight, tablet would have been a lot easier as you don't need the depth behind it.

what are you running the signal into?

nice install. I love seeing new stuff integrated into old vehicles. especially when it was actually given some forethought.

I think if dodge ever had an engine management system capable of being *properly tuned things like this would be more abundant. but with it's limited use and obvious labor intensive install, I don't see it being a popular thing. the normal guy would really have to get tired of holding his phone when changing music to do such a thing.

I agree, not necessary. I build the tablet dashes once every 2 months but pitch them to customers all the time.
Im working on mine a lil more. Adding handsfree calling by incorporating a parrot mki 9000. Also, I love that the new gopro hero3s have bluetooth video so im working on building a housing attached to my xfer case skid plate to allow bottom view while wheeling.
