Anyone have a part number for a downstream O2 sensor bung? Advance Auto has ones with different threads and I'm not sure which one I need.

So question: is it worth it to drop $300ish into an exhaust system? Or would just straight piping it be sufficient? Emissions are not an issue btw

Emissions are an issue here on this site. We won't talk of removing or modifying cats as its illegal in all states unless it's being replaced. That being said a full exhaust system won't do a whole lot of performance for your 4.0. Get a high flow cat and performance muffler and you might get some seat of pants feel. A quality header too.

For the sake of forum rules you're gonna be straight piping it WITH a cat

What's your main goal with the system? Sound? Performance? There's a lot you can do for sound, but not as much for performance. The 4.0 doesn't give much for less than forced induction.

My old XJ was straight piped with a cat and I loved it. The cops liked it too though :P I have a thrush welded on my 90. They're $30 and sound similar to a FM40. Check out performance-curve.com they have some knock-off magnaflows if that's what you prefer. hey have cheap cats too, around $40.

This is gonna strictly be an off road toy, looking for performance with a bit of sound

Well, why didn't you say so? You may choose the cat option, I believe forum rules prohibit talking about removing emissions equipment period. I loved my 89 straight piped but I was 18 when I did it. I had a pacesetter header, a high flow cat, and a 4"x18" slash-cut tip on it. It was ridiculously loud and rattled everything. It sounded exactly like my buddy's dad's programmed Cummins at idle and like a rally car crossed with a V8 at the top end. Honestly, if you'll be wheeling with others at least put an 18" glass pack on it; you'll drive them crazy. That's what it had before and it was pretty mild at idle. It opened up plenty though.

My 90 with the thrush has a very low pitch at idle. It doesn't seem loud until I go inside my apartment and can still hear it faintly on the third floor. It's loud enough for me and sounds good. Here's a video. Check out the exhaust clip sticky too. Lot's of nice sounding rigs in there

Default Headers

Ive been looking at headers. I found an ATP header and hardware kit at summit for about 170. I found it on amazon without all of the hardware for a little less, and now on ebay Im finding another similar header for around 110 that looks almost the same. I'm not putting 400 into a header so I'm not going with Gibson or the likes, and these cheaper headers have slightly different routing in the way the cylinders connect. All say different grades of stainless steel, like 304, 409 and such. I also want o buy US made stuff if I can or at least stuff made by good labor standards. The ATP seems to be a 6-2-1 design while the even cheaper seem to be 6-1 design almost. I have a dynomax muffler and walker high flow tail pipe already but my cat broke off in the front so I need one of them, and possibly another front pipe. I'm putting on a 99 intake and plan on doing something with the air intake again, and may hone my throttle body out a little if I think I can make the butterfly work right still or get a bigger one for cheap. Also I know this is off topic but how hard would it really be to make a homemade supercharger? I mean one that may not give really high boost , but will at least bring a little positive pressure to the intake? Would a big smog pump do anything? or just something like an alternator fan blowing into the intake? And what happens to vacuum systems when you use blowers and turbos? And how does your computer react?
