Mine fit fine on my 99 and I had full custom exhaust

Will a clamped exhaust system still leak? Should it all be welded or the best noise and lowest chance of leaking?

Clamps are fine of you tighten them down.

Awesome! I didn't want to have my XJ in pieces and then find out it wouldn't fit... Haha. I will be installing it this weekend. How long did it take you to install?

Be sure to re-tighten after 50-100 miles.

Got a question.. just installed new manifold and gaskets in my '84XJ 2.5L I4 and theres a little bit of smoke coming out when I turn the car off...new oils burning off the gaskets/manifold??? Smells kinda funny, but not like oil, or coolant.

That would be oils burning off. When I put a header and all new exhaust on my 89 it damn near rolled coal

My muffler is flowmaster not sure which.was on it when I bought it. But towards the back where it holds the tail piple. I wanted to just cut it shore and have the end if the tail pipe come right off the muffler. So basically a real small pipe after the muffler. By length not width. Now idk why it sounds the was it does.when it has flowmaster on

Ok, laziness won out. Didn't look through the entire thread to see if this question was ever asked, but is it possible to remove the pipe that cuts across the body from side to side and relocate all the piping down the drivers side? Just curious.

It would be a pretty tight fit with the t-case and front drive shaft being there. Plus the gas tank filler neck is in the back in that side too.

Do you have access to a welder? Buy a turndown and weld a hanger to it so the pipe is supported towards the back.

Yeah I dont have a welder.but thats where its rusting where the hanger is.so I was thinking about cutting before the hanger and just have a real short pipe.was hoping it would sound better too. But still would need something to hold It up
