Alright guys, just installed a remanufactured 4.0 and thought I might as well replace the headers.
Already had pretty new 2.5" dynomax cat back exhaust.
So after I got the headers on and my new motor in I went to hook the y pipe up with the rest of the exhaust.
First I had to take the exhaust mount off the crossmember side so the downpipe and y pipe would even go on.
Got everything on and it works and sounds good but the y pipe right where it turns hits the bellhouing of my aw4. Drivers side corner.
What should I do about this? Pry bar? BFH?

Does anyone have a side exit exhaust set up that works really well? It has to have cats and muffler on it since I live in Commiefornia. I am aware that not everyone is a huge fan of side exit on the XJ and I respect that but I want a side exit so there is not exhaust piping over my rear axle. Any help is greatly appreciated

I just ordered a catalytic converter which is 2.5" and a cat back exhaust which is 2.25" and I have stock header and down pipe. Can an exhaust shop just use adapter pipes or whatever to make it work?

Need Cat back system AND cat conv
Hi, I need to replace my exhaust from the cat conv to tailpipe (cat included) and I'm looking for product advice. It's a DD and I'm only interested in factory or a mild improvement in performance due to budget. Thank you.

I don't think it makes that much of a big difference. In fact, I wish I would've stuck with 2.25, so I have even just a little more room between the leaf spring/shackle and gas tank skid. Every little bit helps back there!

If your wanting an OEM sounding and fitting exhaust system you may want to check your local shops for the availability of Walker products.

I have a 2001 XJ Limited
I'm thinking about replacing my exhaust soon. I will most likely go with the Flowmaster cat back system from performance-curve.
I was also looking to maybe replace the cat as well, but it seems the more research I do the more odd things I find. Do I need one with an O2 sensor? I have read somewhere that there are pre-cats with these as well, does this make a difference in replacing the cat? Can someone shine some light on this for me? Or maybe just link one on performance-curve that would be a good one? Thanks you guys!

Hey.. Has anyone been pulled over for having a thrush welded with a 2 inch tailpipe on your XJ? Trooper was really nice and didn't give me a ticket, just claims I was going "3 over the limit and your exhaust note is kinda loud, I think you might have a leak."

Sounds like the cop was old. My XJ is pretty loud with a header , 2.5" downpipe , hiflow cat , magnapack muffler and tailpipe And no one says anyone about it being loud. But I know it wakes up my neighbors across the street when I start it even while in my garage
