I loved the Rubicon Express springs I had. Different people will recommend different brands, but I suggest RE from my personal experience. If price isn't a concern, look at BDS. Their "No fine print" warranty says if you damage their product, they will replace it. It's that simple.

I just figured out that the lift im currently installing is actually somewhere around a 4-6" lift instead of just a 4". I'm not sure what adjustable arms I need but im farliy sure i'll need new upper and lower arms correct?

Rough country's website recommends using 33's on a 15x8 rim with 3.75 bs for that lift kit. I know this because I saw it in the instructions to my 4.5 kit

And to prevent the next question: Yes, you can run a 12.5" tire on an 8" wheel.

I would want them. You can go to any of the sites and most offer adjustables and tell you what length you need for each size lift. You can also order fixed length ones for each size lift and be fine as well. The adjustables I have came with a flex joint. This is the second pair of rough country control arms on my second xj and I've had no complaints about them. There definitely are better brands but I've never been able to afford them. Maybe someone else will chime in on it. But I started at 3" on my first xj and within two months I had gone up to 4.5 so I'm glad I started with the adjustables

Lol. Some places won't Mount them though so you just have to keep calling place until you find one that does. I know 4wheel parts and discount tire will do them. Had a les Schwab say no though

Well I am having issues with my Rough Country lift right now (see posts) and the other lift I had was Rubicon Express and I had no issues with it. This time when I went to get a lift they had just started their bankruptcy and were not in business or I would have gone with them.

If you've got the cash you could go long arms, much better flex and on road comfort. And I've never heard anything bad about anyone's long arms, but I am far from an expert, and if you stick with short arms just get them from a reputable brand with a good warranty.

Smile Brake lines

Anyone know if there is any stock rubber brake lines that would fit the front of a 1992 cherokee sport ..from a different vehical that are longer. I have about 3" of lift and the stock lines are kinda pushing it .. And i dont really have the mmoney to spend on aftermarket lines.

Drop the bracket down inside the fender well and straighten out the steel line. That will give you enough extra line

Wont break too easy, but could kink if too rough. When I do mine in a little bit Ill just "stretch" it carefully, easing the bends out. I should have practiced more on the one I just scrapped. I do recall that there was quite a bit of give, though.

Default Lift question - saw this thread after I posted elsewhere...

Hello, I am just starting a lift project on a really nice 98 XJ limited that fell into my lap. The vehicle is not destined for rock crawling and disconnects, rather for trail worthiness in the context of volunteer search and rescue activity I am involved in.

After reading for hours, here and elsewhere, and going over hundreds of lift stories and detailed reports, I decided to get the following:
Rubicon Express RE6025 3.5" Super-Ride w/rear springs - (great discount @ 4WD)
Bilstein 5100 shocks all around
RE Steering stabilizer
31-10.5R15 tires (BFG ATs)

I have several questions I cannot find a definite answers for and hoping someone with experience could set me straight. I've never done this type of project before...

What is the likelihood a SYE would be required after the lift and does it by default also require a CV mod?

The RE kit does not come with spring shims - do I need to get shims?

Some people said they needed an adjustable track bar to improve steering. Is this unavoidable?

Can I just mount 31x10.5R15 on my stock 98 limited rims, or will I have a rubbing/fitting issue that requires different wheels or at least spacers? A lot of people are talking about back space clearance, but I have no idea what it is about...

Thanks for all your help... I just want to get it right the first time and collect all the necessary parts upfront...

I have that same lift, except I bought skyjoker shocks. It rides slightly rougher than stock, but with the good shocks you are gonna get it should be good. I need an sye with the kit, but You can never tell until you lift it whether or not you will need it. My jeep actually has 4.5 inches of lift from the 3.5 inch kit, and from what I have tea that is pretty common. I haven't seen many people put on bigger tires and keep the stock wheels. But limited wheels are 16 inch so I know you can't run 31x10.50r15 on them. Also I just drilled a new hole for my track bar, but you should really get an adjustable one. I would say that there is a pretty good chance you will need a sye, but I have seen people install this kit and not need one. And with a sye you ski have to have a new drive shaft a the point of the sye is to allow for a longer drive shaft. To save cash you can use a xj front drive shaft in the rear with an sye.
