You should mention how well your jeep handles in emergency maneuvers at highway speeds. Yours may be fine, but for someone looking for a "road stable" rig he should probably keep it.

Why don't we all drive 60 hp cars with full roll cages and a helmet? Because safety really does not matter to people. But it does give us something to talk about. 8)

I'm not going to quote that for ease of reading.
Ditch the aal idea, get full leaf packs. Ditch the bushwhakers, 500 bucks of shattered plastic is a real sobering moment. There are cheaper, and in my opinion, better looking flares out there. If you're dead set on plastic flares, Napier precision makes some decent ones, check out aj's offroad. With a little dremel work you can get the tires to tuck under em and you'll have looks, function, and a bill or two extra in your pocket.
For otk you may run into issues with your tie rod hitting your sway bar link mounts on the axle, as well as the trackbar and its mount. You'll have to relocate these as well. Again, In my opinion, you dont need otk. stock steering is fine at 3". Grab an adjustable trackbar (everyone loves IronRockOffroad's double shear), two v8 zj tie rods (keep one as a spare), another stock drag link (as a spare), and you should be fine.
Unless im grossly underestimating the wheeling you'll be doing, you should be fine with the lift you have planned and these changes. Lcog rigs get beat to hell, it just happens. Your best bet for a dd/ww would be to use clearance to your advantage instead of dragging it over things hoping nothing will break.

And Rugged Ridge makes some flares that look IDENTICAL to the Bushcrackers for about half the cost... which is even cheaper than the Napiers

Backspacing, wheel, and tire help needed!
Just lifted my 97 xj country and need serious help with tires and wheels. I know I want duratracs, and black crager wheels.
I don't want to get rid of my stock flares, but really wide 33x12.5 will stick out far too much to drive by a cop here.
My lift is the run of the mill x-series RC 4.5 inch kit. SYE installed. Running boards are leaving and so is the front plastic body panel between the bumper and the flares (not sure of its name).
I'd love to get 32's but of course goodyear doesn't make them. This one is mainly used on road but i want to start offroading some.
Should I go with a metric sized tire? I want enough room to offroad some, so how does a 32 inch tire sound? If i do metric, it looks like i need a 16 inch rim, but is the 5 inch backspacing on crager wheels too much?
I guess im looking for the best of both worlds, big tires, but not too big to ruin all my flex. two inches of tred outside the stock flares is fine, but not half my tire.
I need serious help from someone who knows their way around with this situation. Pictures and detailed info greatly appreciated!

I have the same lift, a 33in Duratrac is actually measured out to be a 32 it's just the wideness that's not usually associated with a 32, it's a lot easier to go to 33's because 32's are sometimes really hard to find, I was in the same boat as you're in right now the guys here told me to get 33's (I have 33in Duratracs) that's what I did and I'm super happy I went with those they look awesome, but I don't have stock flares... But I'm assuming if you try and flex it with 33's the fender can be dented in but you can easily fix that by trimming, not that hard. And 5in backspacing is like stock almost I think? I forgot but I'd get at least a 4in backspacing so nothing

I could always go with a 32 11.5 but I'd have to find a different tire model. Is their a tire thats very comparable to a duratrac? I'm looking for a tire I can drive on the highway for 3+ hours to get to good wheeling spots in the north (so all purpose but aggressive).
I've seen some 32 11.5 with 4.5in BS that were close enough to the stock flares to make me happy.
Duratracs don't come in that size, so sadly thats not an option either.

On your phase 1 the sway bars can be disposed of unless you drive like Mario Andretti. My opinion here.
You will have to buy a trackbar, or relocate the stock one.
Add a leaf is fine. Been running mine for a couple years now. Degree shims or degree blocks in the rear to help eliminate drive line vibrations. I run 1.5" blocks that are degreed. Do a great job.
I also run 10 in bilsteins though I can't tell a difference from monroes. LOL.
I am at 2.5 in the front and 3 in the rear running 36" tires.

Do not used those goofy boomerang shackles, they can impede your flex actually. If your that comcerned about your rear flex, check out some of those sliding relocation box thingys. Buddy of mine runs em and he can almost flex his rear as much as my rear and im on coils

X2 on the sway bars, ditch em and never look back. I can sling my 6" lifted xj thats swaybar-less up and down a windy country road at 50mph no sweat.
Do not used those goofy boomerang shackles, they can impede your flex actually. If your that comcerned about your rear flex, check out some of those sliding relocation box thingys. Buddy of mine runs em and he can almost flex his rear as much as my rear and im on coils
