Get Duratracs and don't puncture the sidewalls.
General Grabber AT2/AT3 will also do the trick. I wouldn't waste my money on tires that aren't Peak Snow rated.

Whoops, that's a Cooper tire! Could have sworn a coworker got General AT3s on his truck, but I must have misremembered as I can't find them online...

No big deal. I've got the AT2's. Going into my 4th winter. Travel a lot of unpaved state rds and shale based private roads with no problems. But I have heard good reports on that Cooper AT3 tire though.
Stuck In a bind. I'm giving my 95 a 3" lift and it came with new lower control arms. I cannot get the new ones to fit. I've tried jacking the care up from the frame with the springs and coils on. I've tried pulling on the axel with the coils and springs off and I jacking up the axel. (That got me the most movement so far) but I'm still a good 1-2" away from lining up. Any other ideas?

If it wasn't for my wife driving the XJ at times I'd go with a dedicated mud tire but there is the ice issue. I'm going into my 4th winter on General Grabber AT2's. GOOD tire. I'm considering the Kumho AT51 for my wife's Blazer by this winter. Only draw back to AT's is that not much more than shallow mud is a problem. Here is some good info:

Most people will tell you what they run is the best, but I currently have BFG KO's (not the 2's) and they'd probably last a long time, but I'm not too impressed with them in the rain and snow.
Being in Michigan (and because of some balancing issues), I'm about to give the Duratracs a try. Rated for winter/snow so I'm sure they'll be much better than the BFG's. You'll be hard pressed to find many bad reviews of either.
All that being said, they're are other choices out there. I've heard/read good things about Cooper AT tires too. Do some digging, you'll find the info. At some point you just gotta pull the trigger on one and find out for yourself.
