aftermarket seats
Hey so I'm looking to replace my stock Cherokee seats with some bucket seats for some racing. But I was wondering where I start looking for seats. Also I was wondering if I would need any special brackets to let it bolt in

I ran some cheap racing seats for a while and they were OK but not great. I now run Mastercraft Rubicons and love them. I skipped reclining seats because I've heard horror stories of the mechanism breaking on the trail plus with my harness bar I can't recline them anyway. Only issue I have with mine is after a long day on the trail the seats in my Cummins on the ride home feel like crap. I originally modified my stock mounts and the MCs came close to bolting right up. Not all seats do though so research them.

Racing seats for an XJ need extra consideration being you will be in it for long periods in off road conditions. Also you will need a roll bar for the seat belts to attach them to and a seat brace at the top as all true "Racing Seats" are designed with this in mind.

i do plan to have a harness bar behind the seats to properly mount the harness. my only concern was installing the seats because i know they arent just a simple bolt on from what ive heard.

Are the Rugged Ridge seats decent for a daily driver? Jeep is stock otherwise, and part of the frame of the stock driver seat has busted. Floorboard and slide underneath is just fine.

I'm not a huge fan of the rugged ridge seats. For less money you can get some nice Corbeau JPs or SS. My buddy is running the RR reclining ones and I just don't find them comfortable but maybe it's just me. They are better than stock but I still prefer my MC. A lot of my friends have PRP and Corbeau and I much prefer them to the RR.

I used to run Mastercraft Rubicon seats and brackets for those were simple flat stock, easy to make. I've since moved on to PRP Daily Drivers and they use upright tabs. I was lazy and bought the PRP brackets with those.

For my daily driver, I had considered some of those Rugged Ridge seats. Compared to the cost of reupholstering my factory units, it comparable.
I just wish Rugged Ridge had an option to buy a rear seat cover from them that matched the front seats you buy. Knowing that all the seats would match would make me pull the trigger on them.
