Im very curious about a seat swap myself
I ama big guy and have a fat wide bottom(***)
Im worried all those race style seats have too narrow a seat.
Im thinking maybe a ZJ seat is flat and wide
if anyone has the ZJ seats, please post up pics

I really like the Polaris Ranger seats.. Mine were from renegade. They're now out of business though. Beard, Mastercraft, BS Sand, and a few others should offer something comparable. I got them because of the lower side than a suspension seat, making them easier to get in & out of. Yet still very comfortable. They still have high enough sides to keep you in them too (along with seatbelt of course).. I did have to fab mounts off of the cage though.

If you are worried about width look at Corbeau, PRP, Mastercraft etc, they all make wide versions. I have about an inch and a half between my seat and console and 2" between the seat and door so the wide seats would be tight but doable. Again I wouldn't recommend the Rugged Ridge but only because I've sat in other brands.

Just watched this:
...and as I'm 6'7" it seems those seats are not a good idea.
Pulled my stock driver seat out my rig this AM and one of the welds in the seat is well and truly FUBAR'd. I guess my 240 lb self sitting on it for the last 10 years finally did a number on it.
Looking at the Corbeaus now.
Edit: Just found a review on the Corbeaus installed in a '91 XJ that says the bracket makes the seat about 3 inches higher than stock. Grrrrrr.....

Had a good conversation with someone from Corbeau a few minutes ago, and he did state that an adaptor bracket to use the stock slider would raise the seat, in his words, an inch and a half.
Or, buy a Corbeau slider for $105 to maintain stock height.
Anyone have any comment on these? There's some reviews on Amazon that they don't fit the stock XJ slider.

So I put in a Rugged Ridge 13445 into my XJ, and let me just save you all the trouble and say don't buy it, especially if you're over 6' or so.
First, forget about adjusting the seat back while driving, or even sitting still. The mechanism takes a lot of force and tends to bind if you have any weight on it.
The seat itself actually sits a little in the right of where the stock seat sits and you can't move it forward too much without hitting the center console.
It's a lot thinner and harder than the stock seat, and pretty uncomfortable on my wide butt, and the seat bottom does sit a little higher than stock so I have to leave the seat back a little farther to fit, meaning I have to move the seat forward to more comfortably reach the controls.
In short, I just need to find a welder who can fix my old one (struck out at the junkyard the other day) and send this uncomfortable seat back ASAP.
Anyone know any good welders in the Knoxville area?
