Yeah it's been relatively dry here. Some rain but what I'd consider normal.
Damn dude. I take if there are no used TCMs you can pick up if you're going through all that trouble.
Too bad that JeepKings is down. Awesome writeup on the 2x6 rockers. If you haven't seen it before, the gist of it is that instead of trying to weld the 2x6 right to the rocker sill, you instead attach some flat stock to the sill, and stick the 2x6 to the flat stock. I believe the guy also put angle iron on the rocker backing plate where it meets the floor. Easier to work with.

Got that thread bookmarked and have had it bookmarked since the day after I bought the Cherokee I suspected the rockers were bad before I even looked at it, I don't think I have seen a used XJ for sale that didn't have rocker rot When I got home from buying it I started searching for replacement rockers and I saw the thread. Fortunately it is only the outer rockers that have lost weight, the inner rockers are still good.
The TCM for the Stealth are far and few between because most people opted for the 5 spd instead of the 4 spd auto. I have only seen a couple for sale on Ebay and they were the wrong year. Even then buying used means there is no guarantee that it will work and not need to be rebuilt any how. At least the place in Florida gives a lifetime warranty with their work. There were only 41 Stealth R/T exactly like mine built in 1992 out of the 5247 made that year and only 5283 Stealth ES' made that year. Those were the only ones with the N/A DOHC motor, and I think less than 40% had the automatic transmission option. The 5 speed was the standard equipment transmission. That leaves 4200 automatic cars I could get a used TCM from. How many of those 22 year old cars haven't been crushed Those are North American totals too, not just Canada. 91 counts are lower and in 93 they switched to a hybrid OBD1 system so the modules all changed, then in 94 they went to a true OBD2 system and changed everything again
I always loved the styling of the Stealth and almost bought a 92 ES in 92. I had a decent job and some savings. Only thing is I got my layoff notice the night before I was to go sign the loan papers so I have to walk away. I stumble on to this one and bought it for $500 with a blown ECU. I walked into it knowing it wasn't going to be cheap to restore or happen over night, but I am so darn close to having it operating right I can't turn my back on it. I am also about $3500 into it now and would never come close to getting half my money back if I sold it as is

Looks like I may have fixed my transmission computer on my own. One of the telltale signs of a bad TCM on the Stealth/3000GT with an ATX is that it will slam into reverse and what ever forward gear it has defaulted too, for me it was 3rd. I plugged in the "repaired" TCM started the car and put it in reverse. There were no pops from the TCM so the capacitors survived the first test, and when I shifted to reverse it went into gear smoothly. I then put it in park and shut it off because it was idling like crap Nothing wrong just something I over looked and I realized it once the car was started. I had to take the air hose and air box cover off to get to where the solenoids plugged in. When I put things back together last I forgot to plug the MAF back in It is not the first time I have done that, I had to clean the ISC valve and did the same thing that time. Only thing is I didn't realize that is what I had done the first time and thought I had messed something up
Once the one road legal car in the driveway leaves today I will actually move the Stealth and see if it gets into first. If it does I bolt everything back in place. If it doesn't I move it back over to the side of the driveway, unplug the TCM and send that off to Avpro in Florida to let them do their magic on it. They did a wonderful job on the ECU

The Stealth is still in limp mode Solenoids pas all the tests with proper movement and readings so the board is missing one critical component. I had taken a picture of the board before i started working on it so I had a reference of the polarity of the caps I was replacing. When I looked at the picture today and zoomed in you can see a black lump where something use to be. Probably shorted out and got crispy due to the leaked electrolyte.
I think I am done with the Stealth for the summer and would rather put the $300 towards getting the XJ on the road.

If we do end up in Central Frontenac it'll be nice to be away from this damn lake. Oh and the 78 acres should give the Heeps something to do.

With all this rain I am starting to feel like we are experiencing the biblical flood I need to get my Jeep finished before I park the Stealth for the winter on the 31st. All that is left is the flexplate and brakes, but in the last few weeks I have only gotten 4 days of workable weather and 2 of those were spent doing body work.
