XJ will not start. Suggestions?

Engine: 4.0L Inline 6
Check the starter, check the fuel pump/system, check the ignition system.
A tune up may not be out of the question.
You need 3 things to get an engine going: fuel, spark, and compression.

First thing I was going to do is drain the gas and put in fresh gas and replace fuel filter. Someone told me it might be as simple as that.
