Go to great info threads in the heading.
Otherwise 87-90 are renix and for the mostpart not much different.
91 and up are all pretty much the same.
Pioneer, Larado, up country just option packages.
some of the options allowed for about one inch more clearance(I think)

Default Not sure this is the right thread

Been noodling around the forum trying to find an answer, so here goes. Just bought a '98 Classic and come to find out the A/C is cashed. I mean metal filings in the tubes! And I thought it was just a lack of RF134. So my question is: "What boneyard A/C units will work in a '98? New is out of the question financially, as I've almost fixed the DW it had, and still need upper adjustable control arms (Rough Country installed by former owner). Are all the A/C units pretty much all the same, or do I have to make mods for a different model year if I can find one? Truck seems to be OK otherwise. PM me as I don't want to waste the forum's space with my stupidity.

You'l need a compressor, receiver drier and H valve. Flush the remaining components with aC flush before installing the new/used parts.

^This, and while what you put in you vehicle is up to you I wouldn't touch used AC components with a 10ft pole (the risk of getting junk and worse contaminated junk that will damage the rest of your system id too high for the relatively small cost savings) for the most part AC parts aren't that expensive, it is the labor that kills and if you're doing the work yourself (with the possible exception of the evacuation and refrigerant fill a once you're done, the equipment costs more than a shop will charge so unless you work on ACs regularly it makes more sense to pay someone to do this) helps with that. The parts listed above will only cost you around $250 new online I doubt a junkyard will be much cheaper.

Appreciate the heads-up my AC problem. I'll go with new parts. Anyone know where to look online?

Default FYI

For anyone else who has this problem, I ordered the entire system from car parts. com for around $387. Could have probably saved some money sourcing parts, but went this way instead. Will have pro install per advice. Many thanks again, I don't know what I would do without the forum!
