it all depends on location, location location...

i can see someone paying 4K for it here in jersey if its real clean. but it would probably take a while to sell it too.. mostly kids buy them around here and they will suck up the cheap ones and do what they want with them..

I would honestly pay $3500 for another clean 2 door. I paid $4000 for mine and it has 60k on it.

I paid $1000 for my rust free 89 2 door that had 42k on the odometer at an estate auction.

The key is to be patient and on the lookout for deals. Paying KBB prices for any vehicle is a sucker bet.

He's not asking about buying one. He's asking about selling. Being patient and looking out for deals doesn't help him. Edmunds and KBB claim to show the average being paid for specific vehicles in specific areas, so they can be useful in getting a rough idea of how much you might reasonably expect to get if you try to sell. OP needed a bit of a reality check in that department.

I'd list it for $4500 and see what bites.

Turbo and sometimes your lucky if you get half back on what you spent on a car.The xj is not old enough for the value to go up every year its really going down every year.

I think you will be lucky to get $3k for your XJ. I say that even though I paid $3.500 for mine when I bought it, but it was exactly what I wanted. I have poured a awful lot of money into it since I bought it. I don't believe I could sell mine for $3k.

You may be lucky like some have said and post a price that you can live with and maybe someone like me just that wants that particular style of XJ will pony-up for it. For the simple reason that it looks much cleaner than the average XJ out there (If the frame is not rusted out of course). This is what mine looked like when I bought it.

P.S. Please up-date this thread if you do sell it. Very curious?

He might have gotten mad because it sounded like he wanted to break even or close to it.

if i had the money just waiting to be spent, i would probably pay 4k for that up here, just because it's clean and rust free.
but 4 grand canadian works out to what, maybe 2500 USD. 4 grand american is like 6500-7k and that's not ever gonna happen.

my 99 cost me a whopping 4 hundred, and it was pretty clean then. it's pretty rusty now, but getting new floors and rockers now. i've been driving it for 4 years with no costly repairs. now has 300k kms on it and it still runs great.

I'll let you know if I sell it, I'm debating holding on to it longer. All I'm saying is you won't find another one in this condition for my price, If it was yours you wouldn't sell it for $2500 either.

There were 2.4 million XJs built during the entire production run. Yours may be in great condition, but it's not exceedingly rare.

Based on your reaction, it seems to me you already knew what you wanted to ask for it, and by posting here you were seeking validation for that number rather than actual advice on how to price it. You didn't exactly get that validation.

So you have a couple of choices. You can take our advice, find out what they're selling for in your area, price accordingly and have a reasonable expectation that it will sell timely. Or you can go with the price you actually want to ask and hope that the one person who really wants that Jeep comes along and is willing and able to pay your price. You might get lucky. If so, great. If not, don't be disappointed, because after this discussion you probably should see it coming. Maybe try your price initially, and then if it hasn't sold after six months drop the price to its actual market value.

GLWS!
