What did you do to your Cherokee today?
Project Howling Winds
Took off my flares, bent the fenders, removed all plastic, and added a light bar (traded for my old wheels). All free mods done in the driveway. Had to stretch her legs a bit before a long high way run 😬

my 2000 is running like a new car, starts, stops, heats great., fun to drive. at home when hot i drained the tranny for 2 nd time and refilled , looking cleaner. do it again in a month.
i am seeing some spots on the floor that i didnt see a month ago. leaks?

For the '01 Sport, I replaced the gear oil in both differentials and changed out the fluid in the transfer case.
Very cautious with the transfer case. The drain plug did not want to turn. Started this project last night. Penetrating oil and an 18 inch breaker bar would not loosen the plug. Gave it another shot of penetrating oil and let it sit overnight. Tried it again this morning and still wouldn't budge. Used a propane torch to heat the transfer case around the plug. Finally got the plug to loosen up. Good to go for another 30,000 miles.

Drove it to work yesterday then swapped over my standard to the high clearance cavfab tie rod. No more rubbing. But now I need a new cat and muffler.

On the driveway, on my back, 30 degrees outside, freezing my butt off, installing the front drive shaft. Pinion yoke bolts are going in tight (later on I realized rust had formed on the threads because I had left the bolts out), figure a little muscle should do it. Last bolt is almost in when the head snaps. !@#!#$%^& Will have to drill it out another day.
On a happy note, I only used 2.2 gallons of gasoline to travel 55 miles of smooth highway driving. Kept it around 60-65mph, even drafted behind a trailer for 15 minutes. I am shocked I got 25 mpg. I have never recorded this high before. The highest I have ever gotten is 19 mpg. Before this reading, I got 14 mpg for 130 miles of local streets driving with some 75-80 mph highway driving - though I did some idling waiting for girlfriend a few times. Will have to verify it again.

Changed plugs, wires, distributer cap, and rotor. Just picked this Jeep up and it had a slight miss in it. I thought surely this will aid the issue. Low and behold now I have rough idle, miss fire while taking off, and while getting back on the gas. Oh the joys. I've missed this.
No, I don't lick fish.

starting the final phase of wiring, getting it all wrapped and loomed. then the exhaust build
still no news on the trans, ive gotta wait till later in the week to get a hold of my dads snap-on scanner. my blue tooth deal isnt fancy enough to show me what the trans is doing
assuming i dont have to pull the trans, it should be drivable soon after a new windshield

pulled the trigger on new wheels and tires:
31x10.50-15 Cooper Discoverer A/T3
Cragar Black V-5 3.75BS
Should be here in a couple weeks, gives me time to get the alignment sorted out so I don't scrub the new rubber.
Suppose I should get a speedo gear too, for the bigger tires?

Well today I found out my misfire and connecting issues where related to a sunken valve. So Thursday I'll be ripping the 172,304 mile 4oh out for an acid bath, bore and hone, and have the head worked. I'll be taking this opportunity to paint the engine bay and work on a few other things while the block and head is at Moffett Machine. Will also be doing a header install on the freshly installed Magnaflow catback, hopefully some of those awesome 703 injectors, 2row possibly 3row aluminum radiator, and wire in dual fans for both auto temp engage and manual. This was a super budget build. But given the head issue...might as well do the bottom end while I'm there and upgrade the rest to prevent myself double work.

Put together my homebrewed SBQDs. The lower perches are leftover from the Rusty's QD kit I put on the '89. Rod ends purchased online, various hardware from ACE, I welded together the upper brackets from some angle iron. Into it about $65. They adjust from 4 3/8" to 5 3/8" center to center.

Just found out my sister bought a house on the same street as LKQ. Looks like my brother in law will be learning how to pull parts for me
I'm in Nashville, so naturally he's a musician--which is usually another word for "unemployed" here. But he's gone on tour and played the Grand Ole Opry so it's not like he's not a real musician, you know? Long stretches between tours sometimes and he likes to feel useful.
