It's from a company called speed daddy, they have an eBay Store too but I ordered it directly from their website, it was half the price of the APN so I couldn't pass it up. The installation went pretty smooth and so far I'm pretty happy with it, only time will tell however if it actually lasts

A steering box from a Chevy S10 or blazer. I believe they used the same box from ~'83-'02. Some say get a pre '96. The S10 box uses dual ball bearings on the output shaft instead of a brass bushing found on the Durango box. It's not as big as the Durango box making it a better option for hydro assist. Same turn radius as the XJ box (3.3 lock to lock). The down side it doesn't have a variable ratio, so you lose mall ratings. Although that should help off-road if you find yourself lost.

piece of strip steel held up by the sun visor, mine is also a Cobra-25NWT so it is much larger than yours lol.

Now I need to track down someone locally with an early xj or mj that's willing to let me rip apart their dash
If you were local I'd let ya use my 95. It has the early dash in it. Any chance of these for the contura switches?

Absolutely. I ran into a problem with the 97+ models where the contura switches are too wide for the hole in the dash, if that makes sense. With the 84-96 models I don't see that having the same problem.

Got the lug pattern adapter and finally put the spare tire on the tailbone. Spent a few minutes tinkering with a bracket to move the tag over. Just waiting on the led lights for the tag so I can finish.

I always change all my fluids after I do any mudding or river crossing to prevent that from happening. That sucks man!

Man...every time I see you post I wish the 5.2 from my ZJ would crawl it's way into my XJ over night...wife says I can only have 2 jeeps and I'm torn between the ZJ and XJ. I'm think maybe eventually build the ZJ into a beast, but no money with college loans, 15 year mortgage and the ZJ unibody needing extensive work and lack of time. Guess I'll have to live vicariously through you for now!

Haha, I need a really committed buddy if I'm going to attempt a 5.2 swap on my DD over the course of a weekend. Too bad Novak doesn't make the adapters and engine mounts anymore. The ZJ was my favorite vehicle I ever drove for the few months I DD'd it before everyone convinced me to stop driving it. Can't beat the XJs visibility though. Opening rear window would be nice too but that's just knit picking...lol

Pulled the gas tank skid in preparation to siphon out the gas and drop the tank in order to chase down a leak from the top. Not happy, because I just replaced the whole pump, gasket/lock ring a year ago!
