It was actually a fairly easy install, even with the drilling and all, but the last carriage bolt (of course it had to be the last one) just wouldn't set right! I finally said eff it and took the bumper off. It took just a minute to fix what my pudgy fingers couldn't in that cramped space! Afterwards, I torqued it down to specs, put the brush guard back on (minus the lower stabilizer shelf since the receiver was now in the way) and all is good to go.

Why a front receiver? I've got a few plans for it. But mainly for the Bumper Dumper, the front recovery points, to stiffen up the front end a little bit, and maybe a hitch-mounted winch. I can always put the hitch-mounted bike rack up there or a cargo shelf or a hitch-mounted BBQ. Lots of possibilities. Since I don't do any major rock crawling and stick to desert playing, the hitch won't get in the way.

I like this one mainly because of the gleam in her "eye".
Nice hitch. I like the paint color of your Jeep also.

You'll love the front mount hitch........
I put mine on mainly for the reasons that you stated. I bought a "Curt" hitch, and installation was a breeze. I didn't have to remove the front bumper at all, but my hardware kit came with the fish-wires, and i was able to get them in between the end of the frame, and the bumper mount.
Most of the time, if you didn't know it was there, you'd never see it.

When my friend Brian was visiting from Long beach last summer, we took the bikes out and went riding. You can easily mount them to the front........However, driving down the road, having to look through the bikes took some getting used to...........I would've definately mounted them to my rear hitch, but with my spare tire on there, there is not enough room for the bike rack and bikes until I get a hitch extender.

What did you do to your cherokee today?-image-2607737798.jpg

While messaging a bracket into place with the BFH. It won. Broke it and had to have it drilled to relieve the pressure. Last night and today I will have one side bolt in place and painted I will post picks then.

I had the fish-wire, too. That last bolt just didn't want to square up and drop in all the way. I took off the wire because I thought it might be getting in the way, and things went south from there. I knew I had the bumper removal as a backup plan. Frankly, I should've done it that way the first time so I didn't have to play contortionist!
