FYI. Paint code is located on driver door label. Search that code and you will come up with numerous vendors for factory matched urethane. $12 for paint and clear.

Does not sound funny, here.

"New floor mats can give you a very good edge" (paraphrased; Oddball, from "Kelly's Heroes")...

...especially with the wee spouse who can "see" something "useful" done on / to the Jeep, for the family $$.

Same with last summer's new rear bumper project, replacing the uber-rusty, rotted out 5/8 - remaining original on the '96. "Looks so much better."

Oh, yeah, and new, colourful woven "rag" rug inside of plastic cargo floor tray, too. "Nicer" to put bags of groceries atop, go figure.

I was actually under the misimpression that you sold the red XJ and bought the black XJ..... but the JK's pretty cool too.

The big goal is to find another XJ and convert it to 4WD with about a 6" lift.
Welcome! You've come to the right place. Several of us have bought rebellious 2wd XJs and made them see the truth of 4wd

Vaya con Dios, brother.... I have no desire to even THINK about rebuilding a transmission any time soon.

Took the Jeep out to an old mining place. Most of the mines were filled in but all the mine cart tracks were still there. Good site seeing and exploring.

Haha no when yo said you "installed floormats". I know that yes it's an upgrade, but I just found "installing floormats" amusing haha.

Bought a hilift jack off a friend for $30. Now where to put it. Also started my tube doors but then realized that the hinges I was gonna use off my old door are welded to the door. I thought they were bolted. Didnt have a cutting wheel so that stopped that.

i dont want to either, but all the local builders all told me theyd just replace the bad part and not rebuild it with updated parts it should have, and i built 650hp capable trans is 2500$+ so i spent 500 on a mild performance rebuild kit and ill learn to do it my self, plus ive got accsess to a in depth rebuild manual.

Oh I can see the value in it. It just crosses my eyes every time I think about doing it. Probably if I popped a couple of my son's ADD meds, I could concentrate long enough to get it done, but my ADD kicks in and I start to get all mixed up when I look at how-to's on it.

Bought some Yukon 4.56's and a Detroit Truetrac for it today. Quite the chunk of change, but I'm excited to have a nice gear ratio back and it will be a lot nicer to my transmission when I'm pulling the camper.

Despite half a dozen trips out to the Jeep today - each and every one of which contained the sincere and focused desire to find out this fact for you, I am Still shamefully ignorant of the correct answer. <g>

My Tacoma came with no floor mats. For some reason that bothered me and at the dealer they were a couple hundred dollars. So I didn't get them. Several other sources seemed almost as expensive but one day I was walking through a Sams Club and saw: Custom Floor Mats hanging there. $19.97 or something like that. It turned out that they are "custom" in the sense that there are areas on the edges which can be trimmed off to make them 'a custom fit'. <g> And they are a very soft and 'moldable' rubber kind of material.

Bought a set, didn't trim off a thing, threw them into the Tacoma and have been happy with them for all the years since. The "mats" which came with this Jeep were cheap stiff plastic with high curling-in edges on both sides. Slick, ugly - they gabbed and hid anything dropped and just annoyed me in general.

So I went to a local Sams Club yesterday and they have the exact same ones and I think they were still $20.

I did have to trim them this time as the Jeep floors are apparently narrower but they look equally nice and I like them in there quite a bit. I gave the new rear-seat-area mats, and the old plastic-y mats, to my neighbor - who seemed delighted with them for some reason which was not made clear to me.
