I think other than the light weight and slightly torquey-ness of the 4.0, it probably has to do with weight I. The back. I never had that problem running full tread bfg all terrains. But I had a cumulative weight of probably 400 extra pounds between a spare on steelies, tools, extra parts, jumper packs chains/straps/other recovery equipment, work equipment, guns, ect in the trunk area. Then I took everything out and folded the seat down to help move a friend. Just happened to be pouring rain and I was enjoying sliding into traffic circles at 35mph and stepping on it at a stop light and spinning tires without using any brakes even into 2nd gear, but I couldn't help to notice it never acted like that with just an extra 300-400 pounds in the back

yeah the one wheel peelers tend to do that quite easily.

keep your eyes open for a limited slip rear axle or you could even throw in an auto locker to send power to both wheels.

I do but it only seems to happen when I have my left foot on the brake pedal at the same time. Not sure why that is....

happens all the time with me in the rain too. Once I toss some weight in the back it tends to be not as bad. I just ease up on the gas when I feel it starting to spin.

Thanks everyone. I wanted a feel for what was normal for this vehicle. I appreciate all the suggestions too! Ya, I got noth'n in the back but the donut. Come to think if it, I even have the rear seat out right now, so it's real light. I need a real spare and will soon add a receiver hitch. That, lowered tire pressure and different tires should all help it handle the hard wet stuff way better. Oh and yes, a locker or limited slip would make it great I'm sure. Some said the weight distribution was near 50/50. Really? I'm surprised.
Again, THANKS!!!

I seriously doubt it's anywhere close to 50/50.

This, it isn't.

OP, my jeep is the same way except add about 50lbs in tools. I keep stability on wet roads. Tires and proper pressure and you're golden. Only time I've seen a wheel peel is starting from a red light whilst on a hill making a right turn. Spun for a second, release gas, did left foot braking and second time had no issue

This happened to me all the time.

I cured it by taking off slowly.

A 99 with 8.25 and LSD. Is LSD stock or aftermarket and can you 100% verify this? Does it one-tire-fire or break the backend loose with both tires spinning! Does it happen when wheels are turned, straight or both?

Ya, that's what I do, but sometimes you need to get out of the way and need traction to do it. I'll get'r dialed in!

You talk'n to me VT? Yes it's a 99 w/8.25, but it's an open dif. No LSD. I checked the numbers and then jacked it up to confirm, so I figure it's a one wheel spin. Spins easy whether straight or turning. Part of the problem is a slight incline where I need the traction to merge with traffic. Plenty of power if I could get it to the ground. Need to make some adjustments. "Hey Honey, can I spend some money?" Damn,,,, Gotta wait for my allowance : (

Yeah I'm talkin to you! Haha.. I bet your on the right track with tires/weight changes. I always wished they squeezed an extra 50 hp/tq outta these engines. Would have been easy and imagine having 240hp and like 270tq?
