Want to make my XJ look mean
I'm 15 and have an 88 cherokee 4.0 5 speed. I got it stock, put a 3"RC lift on it and some 31's and some other mods... and was wondering if there is anything else that I could do to make my xj look more agressive and mean. I am gonna get some soft 8's or d-windows that have 3.75 backspace and that should help but I was just trying to think of some more easy to do and cheaper things... I'm trying to do as much as I can before I have to pay for gas when I get my liscense. If anyone has cut a stock bumper and liked the way it turned out please post up pics because that is something I'm considering doing. Thanks and please post pics!

Kicked out wheels will help a lot, give it a much meaner stance as well as real benefits too. A little dechroming will go a long way, I blacked out my grill except for the outer surround(ala Cherokee Chief), and I love the way it looks. A cut n fold job and flat flares? I personally think the big bulky regular Bushwhackers look oversized over any tire smaller than a 33", but that's just me.

I know you aren't driving yet, but keep in mind in many states there are laws about flares. When you get the kicked out wheels, the cops are gonna hound you if you don't have flares.

I run the Cragar Soft Eights on mine and like them, but if you look on Summit Racing or Jegs they have wheels that look like them much cheaper plus free shipping. Remember that you will need 5 of them because your spare must be the same size.
craigslist is a good place to look for parts for your XJ I bought my Rustys Tube Winch bumper used for $45 there and other items also. One thing to dress it up a little is a roof rack and lights to go on it.
Then you will need items for the trail like a Hi-Lift jack, recovery straps, tools, first aid kit, some spare parts.
For now you need to do a complete tune-up and change all the fluids on the XJ flush cooling system, trans fluid, transfer case, both differentials. Then plugs, wires, dist cap/rotor, check all sensors, inspect/clean injectors/TB.
This should take care of you time and money for quite some time, when finished start on the frontend and steering.

I already did all fluid changes and a plugs/wires/cap/rotor tune up before buying the fun stuff... and in oregon on the coast if your tires stick out 3" past the body of flares it is illegal but I see people with tires that stick out way more than that. Especially people at the dunes. Thank you guys for all the reccomendations and if you have any more please post em up!

You could make it look mean by adding angry eyes and maybe a speaker under the hood with a motion sensor that growls at people as they walk by.
LOL just kidding.
A stinger bumper and some aggressive wide tires never hurt.
