Europeans get all the fun stuff. Not that it's impossible to find a 5-speed ZJ in the States but it's not easy, either. If you're lucky enough to find one, it will be mated to a 4.0L.

Hey there I wouldn't agree! You have 5-speed XJs! Plus this is a swap so you'd be able to drive a ZJ just like this if you undertook such a project! You'd actually be able to complete it quicker and for less! ;-)

It may be just slightly faster than with the auto but you can feel the torque take you into hyperspace!!! The feeling is completely different though...

Brakes would be nice but I didn't really think about it, I'll wait a bit so I can enjoy this swap, I've been working on for months! And it's time that I turned my attention to my XJ! ;-)

That sounds so good. It's audible engine ****.

How is that truck, with it's size and noise, accepted over there? It seems so out-of-place among all the French subcompacts and motorcycles/scooters. Do you get thumbs-ups or dirty looks?

Thanks! lol It's not bad, still not quite the muscle car engine note that I'm looking for, but I guess that won't happen unless I carb it and add a dual exhaust!

A ZJ isn't particularly big and despite being loud is still accepted fine. A gasoline V8 4x4 is quite out-of-place among little diesels but unless they know it people just think I have a big diesel... lol

The ZJ doesn't get thumbs up or dirty looks but many people do check it out (I have been told!) I get thumbs up in my XJ though, but that's rather more extreme!

You are correct! The 3.73 axle ratios provide very short gearing... It's a shame for top speed and highway fuel economy but acceleration happens quickly!! lol

Haha, indeed I highly recommend it! Now I'd love a bit more oomph and a dual side exhaust to really feel like in a muscle car!

Thanks, Timberwolf!
