Time for new springs- shop says lift won't cause vibes
I called my local jeep shop (Jeeper's Den) to get a quote on swapping my sagging springs for the HD ones that Crown makes to eliminate the sag while towing. They suggested for a little more I could get a 3" lift from Rusty's.
I have owned a lifted jeep in the past and it was constant battle to get all of the bugs ironed out. This is my daily driver/hunting vehicle and it has fairly new 235/75/15 Duratracs on stock rims. I also put on new Rancho 5000s when I installed the tires (~25K miles ago).
They claim that a 3" lift will not cause any driveline vibrations. Given all the threads on here I find that hard to believe. Conversely, I like the way a lifted XJ looks and I'm leery of the harsh ride the HD springs may give.
Given all of the above, lift it or just go with the HD springs?

I'm at exactly 3" with same size tires (235/75-15) and no vibes. I recall that there was a little high-frequency vibration from the rear drive shaft initially but it was minor and has gone away as the springs settled.

Can you post a pic of your jeep? I'd like to see how the lift looks with this size tire.

I think 31s would look better but it wasn't my intention to lift 3". The leaf packs I bought were supposed to be 2" and I expected them to be 1.5" after settling. They were 3.5" and settled at 3". Rather than complain, I just boosted the front with V8 ZJ coils and a 1" spacer... but the tires look a little small for the lift, IMO.

The Rustys 3" lift was an excellent suggestion as far as quality of the leafs and coils all made in NA not so with the others either China, Australia and one place SA.
I carry a loaded cargo area all the time 200# give or take and going on 4 yrs. zero sag and I do pull my fishing boat an 18' aluminum bass boat behind at times and other times my Razor on a trailer.
