Subwoofer not kickin like a mule any more
I just redid the rear of my jeep, painted trim, installed fire extinguisher, painted my roof on inside, replaced the carpet on my rear seat with heavy vinyl rubber mat, and mounted my amp to the seat so the spare tire sheilds and conceals it. my sub is out in the pic obviously. so I just replaced my battery cables and battery. ever since, my sub just doesnt sound the same as it used to. I did make adjustments on tuning freequency but usually im pretty good and I cant get it. It used to almost shake my rear view off but now it will hit good bass in some parts of some songs but not the same. I do transfer my sub in and out alot and saw the wire ends for the sub look a little beat up but not bad. any Ideas? Dual 600 watt & 2 12" dual kickers.

Are any of your grounds/positive wires around the battery corroded? other than that check to see if everytthing is still tightly connected. that's about all that has made mine drop in output.

Maybe the heavy vinyl is reflecting/messing up the soundwaves? But yeah, check your connections and stuff. I would suggest facing your subs at the roof, it that doesn't work, then at the back hatch. If neither of those work, then face them at the rear seat. Where they face affects the soundwaves I think. If I face mine different ways, they "seem" to hit harder or softer.

yeah definitely the reflection of soundwaves makes a big differrence. if you have them ported at least face that to the back.

well ive had my sub behind the rear seat facing towards the front before because of that small cavity thats is created there. i like that so my subs wont get hit. but the inside of the rear seat it pretty heavy guage metal and it was fine before, do you think the vinyl would make that much of a difference? I JUST replaced the battery cables and grounds are good

Yes, I think it would make a difference. The softer padding that was there did something that the vinyl does not or vise versa.
When I removed all my carpet and herc'ed my jeep, my subs sounded different.

ya, Im all rhino lined on the interior aswell and no head liner. well I will most deffinetly have to try changing the orientation of the sub, I just never liked pointing the sub at the hatch since its fiberglass and rattles and all.

let me clarify one thing, im not one of those dudes trying to blast bass for blocks and be as lod as possible, I like my music loud but not over powered on bass
