Polished wheels
Trying to decide if i want polished aluminum wheels or black steels. I have a red xj. Can't find many pics of them with aluminum wheels. Is there a reason for this? Pics appreciated. I'm looking at the Ion alloys 171 or the Mickey Thompson ones.

Polished looks nice, but I usually neglect to keep them cleaned up. I chose steel wheels for that reason, and I found a deal on Craigslist .

A lot depends on where you drive it mostly on or off road. Mine is mostly a trail rig with little street use so I have steel wheels 2 sets mounted one 33's and one 35's.
With a steel wheel if you bend one at least you can beat it back out air up and go on most of the time that's not possible with aluminum wheels so very hard to air them down for better off road traction/ride and impossible to repair. Plus mine get scratched up quite often off road and cheap to replace if needed.
What's important id to buy the correct for your XJ like in a 15" wheel it would be a 15x8" with 3.75" of BS needed for a 31" to go up to as much as a 35x12:50 tire.

aluminum looks nice if it's a street queen and you can keep them clean. and they pit like crazy in the winter.
and they rash like nothing else if you take them off road.
steel will take the abuse a lot better.

Well the jeep is mostly for my wife. Probably won't see off-roading more than 2 times a month. I think she would like the aluminum look more than the black steel

3.75 is a little much but may be fine with sway bars in place. might rub on front of flare at full turn.
i would go with something closer to 4.5 if you're just gonna keep it the way it is.
