I have to agree about buying one with lots of mods done........All you have to do is read here everyday about what someone is going to do or how cheap they can get it done.

Mine had a half azzed lift on it blocks and all when I started so know a little about it. If/when I sell mine I have receipts for a few of the parts and labor, not all that someone can look at and know whats in it and who did the work.

Can I get it all back NO but its a well done XJ as far as I went so should get part of it back.

Or anyone in the rust belt. Rust is relative to your location. Cali rust or Michigan rust?

i price mine like it is made of gold when some random dude offers to buy it. ill give him a random really high number like 15 thousand, they usually **** off.
if someone wants to pay me 15k cash i'll sell it.
but otherwise its not for sale and i'm just trying to get people to leave me alone. it seems like every 5th time im at the gas station, somebody asks if its for sale.

I keep saying it and one day you're going to realize this: XJs are only going to increase in price for nice ones. We haven't had a new XJ in 14 years. They have a cult following. Look at FSJs for our future.

THAT'S the difference. I'd rather start clean than inherit other people's baggage.

Which, by the way, I did when I got mine. Had to un-**** EVERYTHING the PO did to her...
you either buy a stock clean one and do what you want to it, or buy one someone has messed with and change everything to how you want it... i still see no difference.

Depends, alot of my issues were bad hack wiring jobs, and cut fenderwells (above the pinch seam in the back, which I still need to deal with)...and a crap suspension which I replaced once, but am going to do it again proper, when I did it the first time it was all junkyard mods, and it served me well up until now, but time to move to the next stage...just sayin, know what you're getting into.

The other issue you run into is people who put a RC lift on, and think it raises the value several thousand dollars...that's just not the case

I looked and looked for my XJ before I bought mine, found a nice Black 98 with a working..NON leaking sunroof for $2600.00 right here in Michigan...and rust free...it looked just like it does in the picture less the rims/tires, fender flares, visor and lights

Found this one for $9900.00, I kept all these with notes while I was researching XJ's, I was willing to travel. As long as ppl keep paying these high prices they will hold their value...
