New Hooligan XJ 50" light bar gutter mount - paint, powder coat or ????
My light bar mount will be here in a couple for days and it will be coming unpainted. What does everyone recommend for making it black, but not look like crap (for the cheapest).
Any idea how much it would cost to get them powder coated? Or they make textured powder coating?

I powdercoat all of my stuff cuz I can do it for free. But if you dont wanna spend any money just get quality primer and paint and prep it good. Easy touch up that way.
And they do make textured powder coat. My bumper is "Dixie chopper textured black" and we've got hammertone colors too.

I just use Rustoleum primer and black textured paint on everything.
It doesn't matter if you paint or powder coat it – hit it enough times and it's gonna shine through and rust, so do what's cheaper. Learned form bitter experiences.
Also, just a heads up about the Hooligans, due to the placement of the light bar right in front of your face, you might hear a whining noise coming from the heat sinks on the back of the light bar at 25-60 MPH. It does get annoying after a while, so I might suggest Inspired Engineering's brackets if you don't like that!

I called them because they were local and they told me to just go to an auto parts store and get door molding and cut it to 48" lengths. Weird they gave up a sale telling me that.
I decided to go with PlastiDip or FlexiDip (whichever I can find locally) to cover the mounts. It looks like it will work perfect!

I'm going to have to try that. I never gave it a thought. I have some of that door trim stuff sitting in my garage. I wonder how it will hold up to the FL sun.
