I have no idea on the specifics of your issue but I would suggest finding a schematic of the cluster wiring if possible. Get a volt meter if you do not have one already and check the harness for voltage. Isolate the wires for each function, for example, the oil gauge and see if the meter indicates different voltages at different rpm, etc. Just an idea that may get you pointed in the right direction.

For starts have some patience the forum isn't always a crystal ball lol, second it may help to pm a mod to move this into the oem tech part of the forum.

What gauges exactly don't work? Occasionally my airbag light comes on and I lose rpm and speedo, so far a slap on the top of the dash works fine, which is telling me there's a weak connection somewhere that bumps can effect.

Does it still show mileage or does it say "no bus" you also may wanna search through threads concerning the no bus issue as well seeing as its a similar screwy issue.

Just taking a stab, but the PCM maybe? Could have fried a communications circuit and it isn't sending gauge info?

The only inspection in California is smog checks. They only care about what comes out of your tail pipe.

only partly true on this one. they also run a scan and check for any current DTC's and also verify you have functioning CEL. Sorry cant help with the gauges though.
