Jerrycan
I took a trip up to an Army Surplus store today in search of cool cheap add ons for my XJ. I bought a 5 gallon Jerry Can with a cap and also a metal nozzle. It looks like the rubber seal around the cap is kind of cracked and worn out. I'm planning to keep it in the cargo area of my Jeep for a little while till I get my Roof Rack on. Any Ideas to keep the Jerrycan sealed up?

Go to an automotive or hardware store and see if they have sheets of gasket material that you can cut yourself.

Yeah I thought about using some silicon sealent and seeing how it holds up. If all else fails I'll probably get some gasket material or find some O rings at the hardware store.
As for what I'm putting in it, I was thinking beer since when the cops pull me over they can't pop me for an open container in the vehicle... Also it would be great for parties on the trails!!!
Just kidding lol.
I'm gonna put gas in it and use it when I go out on the trails. It's always good to be prepared out there! Also it'll look awesome when I mount it outside somewhere

Is it US marked? Is it a Blitz style or NATO style can? A Google search will find you cheap replacement seals once you ID what you have.
Dont be tempted to store it full inside the vehicle.. espescially the Blitz style as they will leak.

Heres a link for the NATO style seal, others carry it as well.

you might also want to check on the nozzle (lack of better word) that came with the can. I think it is a different size, if you havent already, run outside and make sure it fits. Be a bummer to get out and about and need the fuel and the darn thing won't fit. Just my two coppers.

Anyway, I put the nozzle on at the store and it fits perfectly. After a few times of buying things and then seeing that they don't fit; I now try everything out at the store before I go ahead and buy it. I've easily blown over $100 in things for my XJ that wouldn't fit. Now the junk just sits in my garage
